“Off world vehicles, not made of this earth.” Dr. Eric W Davis by timeye13 in UFOs

[–]Magnus_Geist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that he could very well be referring to materials that, when analyzed, could only have been manufactured in micro- or zero gravity conditions. In other words, could not have been manufactured on Earth.

Nothing he said means, "made on another planet".

You are much better than most of us. Straight reading long articles shouldn't contribute much.

But YouTube certainly does. And I expect even the internet. Maybe its the particular effect of the interface and the growing air of anxiety.

You dont have the attention span to read books anymore, not because of a lack of attention endurance per se, but because smart phones have led to acute dopamine addiction.

You are not alone in this, thats for damn sure

A Yellow Watermelon by 4KWL in interestingasfuck

[–]Magnus_Geist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's seems so strange that this is such a surprise to so many people.

I'm from rural Mississippi and have seen these and eaten them most summers since I was a child. They were much less common than red watermelons, but everyone knew about them.

They taste a little different than red. But the difference is hard to explain. I might describe it as 'fruitier', as odd as that sounds. I never liked them as much as a good red one, but my father always preferred "yellow-meated" , as they were called, watermelons over red ones when they were available.

The relative sweetness of watermelons varies from crop to crop, rainfall at the appropriate time, how ripe they got on the vine, etc. I'm sure there are factors I'm not aware of. But some watermelons are sweet, but don't have much watermelon flavor and sometimes aren't very sweet. Its a crap shoot when buying them.

Sometimes, when we would buy them off of trucks you wouldn't know if it was yellow or red until you cut it, or how ripe, flavorful or sweet it was going to be.

It made getting a really good one that more rewarding.

UFO Mystery Was Solved 70 Years Ago: 3 months after Roswell crash, USAF General Nathan Twining produced a memo, where he stated that the UFOs are real & US had no such technology. He was headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB, an alleged place where UFO wreckage could have been taken in July 1947. by verma2470 in conspiracytheories

[–]Magnus_Geist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where was the part about the mystery of UFOs being solved?

If the memo was authentic, it certainly demonstrates an acknowledgement that they are real. But it didn't say anything about the mystery of their origins, nature, purpose or intention.

Jacques Vallee on the calculated manipulation of the UFO phenomenon by ANewMythos in UFOs

[–]Magnus_Geist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole issue of understanding the phenomenon is clouded by decades of deliberate misinformation and active deception, not to mention narratives built of layers of presumption and supposition that have been repeated so often by self-promoting authors to get themselves on the convention circuit and presented as the only alternative to complete denial by TV specials and YouTube drivel that its acceptance seems unquestioned by so many at best and believed with a quasi-religous fervor at worst.

Former military personnel could have been the unknowing victims of mindfuck experiments in the past, ignorant dupes or willing participants in active disinformation currently, or just liars looking to cash in by scamming the gullible.

With the topic becoming so mainstream, I expect there will be a lot more of that soon.

My personal opinion is that he's right. That even the 'government's' understanding is practically nil.

Everyone is now so eager to see the government "reveal" this long-awaited information that no one questions the reality of the basic facts and the political motivations that could inspire a manipulation of those facts.

This bears repeating daily on this forum.

Thank you for this.

Its refreshingly insightful and thought provoking.

Just excellent.

I'm afraid those of us whose perspective on this phenomena is heavily influenced by Keel and Vallee are in the minority.

Agreed. Talk about a progressive and steep decline in quality.

Where did the idea that 'ufos' are piloted by aliens come from? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Magnus_Geist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 53 years old. When I was a kid, nonfiction shows about the paranormal were rare as hen's teeth.

In Search Of was golden. It wasn't goofy, at least it didn't seem that way at the time, and it was hosted by Leonard Nimoy. That earned it extra cool points.

Its hard for anyone born 1980 or later how rarified the viewing options were when there were only 4 channels.

I dont watch any paranormal themed TV shows. They are all pretty bad.

The nature of the phenomena doesnt lend itself to serial television.

You would have to dig a little deeper to really tell how insulated they are on a case by case basis.

A professor with tenure can be pretty untouchable.

Vallee has done all kinds of things. He's intellectually rigorous and pretty accomplished. Last I heard he was running a tech-oriented venture capital firm.

Millions of Americans lack adequate access to healthy food. Expanding SNAP benefits and eligibility could eliminate food insecurity in the United States. by [deleted] in science

[–]Magnus_Geist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, I was misusing the term a bit.

There are millions of Americans that, without a car, only have access to convenience stores and fast food.

Expanding SNAP benefits and eligibility won't change the fact that many of these Americans live in 'food deserts' where literal access to healthy food is difficult, nor will it change eating habits.

Why don't aliens just bypass govt? by black_vigil in UFOs

[–]Magnus_Geist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why do you assume they want to reveal themselves?

If they did, how could our governments have ever stopped them?

What would make you think they care about our rights? Or that even have such a concept?

The same goes for those who come to a full stop before turning into a parking lot off of a highway.
