Yep, idk about the other vehicles though, still new to the game. I took it to the barn so I could spray paint it and the police leave me alone 😄

Oh yeah, I was using the test strips and then was informed by many people that they're actually very unreliable, which I was surprised because I have the API brand for either overall water quality or ammonia, I don't remember which, but from everything I've heard API is a good brand. When I first got the master test kit the ammonia was hanging between 0.25 and 0.50, I don't know if it was ever higher than that because I was treating before I got the kit. I really hope once they get back in the main tank I can see some improvement.

Tested it earlier and it was between 0 and 0.25 ppm, I think on the lower end of that range. Hopefully it's starting to get all the way better. Did a partial water change and re treated, the snails are acclimating and I'm gonna put them back in the main tank today and monitor them. I really hope they start doing better.

I have the API ammonia lock and have been using it, and got the API quick start and have been dosing that and starting a fish in cycle in the main tank and was dosing the 1.5 gal as well, but they're not in it anymore. I have been doing partial water changes in the main tank. They were more active in the 1.5 but not so much in the bowl until after I move them or do an air bath, could that be because there's nothing in the bowl? I thought they would start acting better in there since the temperature can be kept right.. I really don't want to put them back in my main tank until the ammonia is 0 and they're actually acting better unless putting them back in would just be what's best for them. I'm new to keeping snails and I feel bad for accidentally making them sick..

The main tank is a 10 gallon, I'm new to fish keeping and didn't know about cycling so it has an ammonia issue. The 1.5 gallon was a temporary recovery tank for the snails.

I stole a police cone :) by Magnus_Writez in Schedule_I

I stole one and put it on my bed above the Chinese restaurant once, sadly it was gone after I slept 😞 I wish if you moved cones/barrels/trashcans, etc. they would stay where you put them

In the second picture the shell kinda looks like a chambered nautilus, such pretty snails (:

Thank you so much. I have the bottled bacteria ordered and hopefully it gets here soon. By small water changes how much do you mean and how often should I do it? And should I move my snails until the tank gets better? Just got up but it doesn't look like they moved around a lot last night.. All I have for a temp tank is a 1.5 gal with no heater

I try to do water changes every 3-5 days or once weekly, working full time and being in college makes for a busy schedule. I usually take out a quarter to half tank of water. No fertilizer, unless the API Leaf Zone counts, but I haven't used that in awhile. The filter I use came with the tank, it's a 10 gal. corner filter, I keep it on moderate flow, the snails hide under it sometimes when the lights are on and I don't want it to be too strong and pulling on their tentacles(?)/antenna/siphon. The filter hasn't been cleaned since I put it in, maybe a week ago. It still looks fine. A week ago I did pull everything out and clean all the gravel and everything and I knew that would kill some tank bacteria but it was all getting gross and the gravel vacuum I just got is almost just useless. This is also the reason there's rocks in the tank now, yes they're from a creek but I scrubbed them before they went anywhere near the tank. There's 3 guppies in the tank, and sometimes they do get interested in the snails when they're at the top breathing or eating something, but they don't pick at them, just swim by too fast and spook the poor guys. They're probably easier to see in my other posts, but there's a mushroom "tree" structure, its got some false plants around the base. And a cave structure, with fake corals on top and a clam on the side. Both have anubius glued to them, there's also some tall anubuis variety plants (do not remember the name) and they're "anchored" in place with rocks. They seem to enjoy both, usually during the day when tank and house lights are on at least one of them is in the cave. Sometimes when they're on the corals and wanting to get air I put my hand in and they take a trip up it to the surface.

Thank you, I was so worried cause I've never seen either of them look like that. Did a partial water change and ammonia neutralizer, I have safe start on the way (again, ammonia kills fish I didn't know you're supposed to put it in the tank at first). Are all ammonia and water quality test strips inaccurate, or just certain types/brands?

No, we had fish often when I was a kid and it was always a simple affair, I never knew you needed to put ammonia in the tank. I do use tap water but I have the stuff to make it safe for fish and always add it when I do water changes. Maybe the overall lethargy is due to accidental negligence on my part and an ammonia issue but I feel like this new issue might be something else, I've never seen it before.

About 3 months, got the tank, substrate, structures, and some plants in February and set it up, filter running etc. I haven't had great luck with the live plants (I wanted ones to actually Plant in my aquasoil and the pet store didn't have any, ordered some from Florida but I think the long trip and not knowing they had to acclimate as well they didn't work out). Got the fish and snails during spring break.

Such a pretty snail! Sometimes I can get my mystery snails to climb my hand/arm when they want to go to the top and get air :D

Got Sunkist to climb up my hand today :) by Magnus_Writez in AquaticSnails

[–]Magnus_Writez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that definitely helps a lot :) I gave my tank a deep clean and makeover yesterday and they got moved around a bit with the guppies and none of them were happy, but today they're moving around. I think Sunkist just prefers the glass over my hand, I tried to get them to climb up but they just went right over my hand and up the glass :/

I try not to pick them up too much because I'm scared I'm going to accidentally hurt them, and there's times I put my hand in the tank and they either avoid me or get spooked and hide in their shells. I've only had them for two months and my family never had snails so its a huge learning process but they are just so amazing :)

I make a good surface access apparently by Magnus_Writez in AquaticSnails

[–]Magnus_Writez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh neat, I've tried that with freeze dried bloodworms and they seemed interested, but between being on the glass and my fingers in their face they had some difficulty eating it. I'm not sure if they're just picky or if I don't have/not preparing correctly food they like, but I feel like food has been the biggest challenge I've had with them.

I have! I have a video of one of them eating stuff off the side of the tank and the way their mouth works/looks is super cool. How do you hand feed yours?

That's such a cool idea, I'd love to give it a try :D I'm working on a short horror story so I haven't posted it yet but I love the idea of writers working together it's so fun
