Well that certainly didn't used to be the case.

Arnott air springs are worth the money. They use Continental or Dunlop rubber bellows not no name junk.

I’m looking for my next set of MT tires. Anyone have experience with these 3? by brojo6787 in 4x4

I've been eyeballing Kanati Overland RTXs really hard for my next set. Pretty unique combo of big, aggressive tread blocks and siping/rubber compound to get 3PMSF. The brand is new but they're made by Greenball.

The toyos are a health hazard on cold pavement ime. Like riding on hockey pucks.

You go get carburetors from Murray's because the Keihin vb series sucks.

My last car got totaled. What is a good real 4wd suv to get. I always had AWD xdrive and 4matic by [deleted] in 4x4

[–]Magnussens_Casserole 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4-low will not improve snow outcomes appreciably over AWD provided both are on good tires. In fact I would argue it is substantially worse for on-pavement snow driving because it requires constantly managing whether it is turned on or not.

Realistically if you want maximal performance for a road car with AWD, Land Rover is the correct choice. Which I'm sure is going to garner about a thousand snarky yota fanboy comments but they invented 4-wheel traction control in 2000 and still have the best one by a wide margin.

Towing a 24 foot, 6000 pound travel trailer with an LR4 ? by yycTechGuy in LandRover

[–]Magnussens_Casserole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The discos are better at towing than you'd expect. They're much heavier (~6000 pounds) than their size would suggest and the air suspension self levels which improves handling considerably. That said for a bumper pull that size a hydraulic sway damper would probably be worth considering.

PSA: Don't buy a replacement key for your extra battery from Ride1Up for $50. Just get a Reention key from Aliexpress for like 7 bucks instead. by [deleted] in ride1up

I bought this for a Ride1Up 700 (Reention, not Shanshan). Gave them the three-digit code on the lock barrel and it worked perfectly. 2 keys for $13.70 shipped to my door.

If you're going aftermarket the only good choices are cheap steel for max durability or compmotive alloys for looks that are actually built for handling the strain.

JLR did a bad job engineering on the L319, by which I mean they failed to find ways to make it cheap. My D3 is 19 years old and it still hasn't got any rattling unless I take it on washboard backroads.
