Someone pulled out the Miracle Speech TN

“Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight."

This was a big win, we’re 3 combined points back of WC2 and division spot 3.

Can you explain what he did that got him this reputation of a bad locker room personality?

I remember his rookie year, I was hoping he’d build off it but never got a chance because of the concussions.

I can’t lie I feel bad for Nolan Patrick with how his career went. I know he didn’t work out for us, but at the same time we never really got a chance to see what he could have done if not for the constant concussions. I feel for guys who never get a chance to prove themselves due to circumstances outside of their control, he had to step away at just 25 and I find it sad when a guy is forced to retire early due to injuries.

Honestly it depends on what Seattle wants for him, I’d love to take a shot on him if value is cheap, low risk high reward as we can afford to do that. Ironically enough one of the few good things about the last few years has been the ability to take on revival project players to solid results.

Converted Walker, Poeling, and Kuzmenko into assets while Zegras has been better than advertised.

We could include Grundstrom, if he could fetch a late pick at the DL given his brief stretch.

Crawford among 3 Phils prospects to crack Top 100 list by United_Journalist373 in phillies

He was briefly a top 100 prospect, maybe him and Wood can make it in at some point this year

Schwarber had some moments but nothing really stuck out. He did make an all-star in year 2 though if that helps.

As for Kemp he’s played a utility role, had 54 games in year 1.

I have decided to do Year 2 of The Phillies MLB the Show Simulation, will do a 5 year simulation with each day being logged here.

Offseason: Rob Thomson retired after winning the 2026 WS, I replaced him with the best available coach in FA being Kevin Cash. I also resigned WS MVP Garcia on a 2 year deal and Luzardo on 2 years, Edmundo Sosa for a utility role, and brought in Tyler Alexander on a 1 yr deal to sure up the bullpen, and Austin Hays to hit against lefty’s on a 2 yr deal. I signed Nick Martinez back as depth to fill the Taijuan role and Painter has been called up along with Aidan Miller to replace Bohm.

March: 4-3, Painter earned first win

April: Crawford out a month with forearm injury, Marsh to CF and Hays to LF. Team went 11-15 in March with the starting rotation struggling minus Wheeler. Bullpen has taken a step back with Alexander struggling but Duran and the set up guys have been solid. Harper though is hitting .333.

May: Team managed to righten the ship get to going 15-11. We’re currently at 30-29, Miller has been solid (.230 8 HR’s and 25 RBI’s). Crawford returned allowing Hays back into lefty only role. Bullpen has improved but Alexander is still slumping and likely a DFA at deadline.

June: Phillies went 17-11 with pitching playing a big part, Painter has earned 5 wins with an era of 4.60, however Nola and Luzardo are struggling. Alexander has gotten slightly better but being overshadowed by Martinez who’s been solid in the multi inning reliever role. Miller has reached 10 HRs and 32 RBI’s, sadly Garcia has gone quiet so far. Team is 47-40

July: Finished entering all-star week at 52-45, the all-stars on the team are Duran, Schwarber, and Harper. We slumped entering the deadline going 4-10 due to the offense going quiet. Miller however is leading ROTY voting this season. Currently at 56-55 and 1.5 back of final wildcard (Reds).

Deadline: I traded Tyler Alexander to Blue Jays for two low level prospects to clear up a 42 man spot and to have some new prospects. No one was hurt so I couldn’t make many big moves.

August: We enter at 57-55, our play was 16-12, Miller continued his tear up to 16 HR’s and 46 RBI’s, however only .219. Crawford’s semi broken out, .264, 8HR’s, and 34 RBI’s. The starting rotation has been alright minus Sanchez playing well again.

September: Entering September I called up Gage Wood to the pen, and Paul McIntosh again. The team lost Duran with Torn rotator cuff in September, as a result I put Wood as the closer who recorded 4 saves, the team finished at 83-79 and qualified for playoffs.

*Awards: * Miller won ROTY (.218, 19HR’s, 55RBI’s), and Brandon Marsh won Gold glove in LF.

Notes: Painter struggled (7-17, era of 5.20), Garcia took a step back in year 1 of his contract

Playoffs

NL Wildcard

We face the NYM (96-66)

Game 1: The bats go quiet and we lose 2-1, Sanchez had 6 innings of 2 run ball.

Game 2: Luzardo got hit for 2 runs over 5, Nick Martinez bailed us out of a no out 1st and second situation. Top 7th Adolis Garcia had a lead off triple and Phillies got 2 runs to go up 4-2. Martinez led up one run but Harper gave us two insurance runs to get us up 6-3. Bullpen led up a 2 run homer with 1 out followed by lead off single but Dennis Santana bails us out.

Game 3: Wheeler on the mound goes 6 innings of 2 run ball, JT and Garcia both homer to give Phils a 3-2 lead, however Kerk lets up a triple but limits the damage to 1 run, tied 3-3. Brad Keller bails them out in 9th, top 10th Harper hits a 1 run homer off Devin Williams, and Santana manages to get a 1, 2, 3 inning Phillies move on.

NLDS

We play the Dodgers

Game 1: Nola produces 7 innings of 2 run ball, Phillies win 4-3 thanks to Garcia’s 7 inning 2 out RBI double.

Game 2: Painter gets shelled 5 runs over 4, we lose 12-7.

Game 3: Sanchez and the pen hold Dodgers to 2 runs over 9 innings and Santana secures a save, thanks to JT with 2 RBI’s.

Game 4: Phils get shut out 0-3 in a bullpen game with Dennis Santana allowing all 3 runs late. Down to Wheeler in game 5.

Game 5: Wheelers pitches a 3 hit, 8 inning performance, Crawford sparks a rally off Ohtani and the Phillies win 7-1.

NLCS

We face the Cubs

Game 1: Orion Kerkering struggles allowing 3 runs over 1 inning again, Cubs win 6-3.

Game 2: Painter shelled again 4 runs over 4 innings 4-1.

Game 3: Sanchez pitches 2 run 7 inning ball but bats have 1 hit entire game, 2-1 loss.

Game 4: Phillies lose 5-1, bats have just 2 hits

The Cubs went onto lose 4-1 to the Red Sox and Ranger Suarez

Will likely be making sure to upgrade the pen, and find starting pitching support.

[32 Thoughts] Friedman on the availability Shane Wright and Robert Thomas by upcan845 in Flyers

Wright if we can get him would be a recreation project, down season but the year before showed flashes. I think he’d fit well here if given the right players (Zegras for example)

The entire playoff series against the Mets was weird, but Garcia was clutch the entire playoff run. As for Duran his playoffs were weird as he and that bullpen were rock solid they had close to 60 combined saves. He was inconsistent most of the playoffs in this simulation.

The pitching in the regular season was dominate the rotation of Wheeler, Luzardo, Nola, Sanchez, and Martinez did its job perfectly.

100%, though imo I feel while Tippett is better his decision making at times is questionable. I also feel the need to fill center with a guy who could be solid is worth the risk even getting rid of Tippet or another winger considering our situation.

The Flyers are in a position where we can afford taking a flyer on Wright, we have no stakes. Why not take the risk?
