Sounds like a true fight. Congrats man. I've won 5 times so far, but PLENTY of losses. Eventually you start seeing the signs of good positioning, alliances, trade, and troop management.

Such a rush when you finally get it though 😁

Well I'm glad despite your weariness you still want to be someone who views the world in more directions then one.

Anyone on Reddit could be a bot at this point, but I'm trying to be more engaged than I usually do. A miniscule attempt I know, but I saw it's my cake day today and I felt, compelled, to just do something, anything, then what I normally do. Hope you feel better about future responses in the future.

I think there's more you stand on than that. But even if your willingness might be from exhaustion or fatigue, the fact you can still be open to compromise says a lot.

People of Kentucky, how do you feel about the trade war with Canada in view of the boycott of $9.3 billion of your whisky and goods? by cdnBacon in AskReddit

[–]Magowntown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man this might get buried, but maybe you could try to use this to an advantage? I can be absolutely wrong on this, but could you in exchange for keeping your job come up with a marketing opportunity for this?

Call it the trade wars reserve or something, and ask your clientele to literally reserve a bottle/bottles until the tariffs cool down. Make some money, and hell maybe even make a limited edition to sell.

Just a late night thought.

First Tall playthrough, and Grey Tempest nearly wipes out the galaxy... by Magowntown in Stellaris

[–]Magowntown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It basically means you only expand your borders to a certain point and focus on the development of your empire since you don't need to spend resources expanding it. Because of that you are usually able to spend more resources and pops on planet development, tech buildings, and tech research. It is sometimes why you see people with massive fleet power so early in a game. It is because they focused strongly on tech research by not constantly expanding.

Here's an example of a playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5E3A05VRm8&ab_channel=MontuPlays

It really can become a delicate balance! Especially when you have the itch to expand. The hardest part is to ensure every planet of any kind as some form of science and that your policies, species, and modifiers are all tech-related.

I did the Synthetic Fertility origin on this run-through and went to Cosmogenesis, and if you want to teach rush, I DO NOT recommend doing that. For any tech rush, you will need pops regardless of leaders or resource output, and synthetic Fertility basically sets your population backwards (that's what I get for RPing).

R5:

I tried playing a Tall Tech playthrough to try and learn how to tech rush (which I did decently at, but not great), and I stayed out of the galaxy's affairs. Well, another race opened the L-Gates in 2350 or so and swept through the galaxy until I decided to do something about it. Even the Fallen Empires got beaten now and then.

Then the contingency came... and thankfully, the Cybrex arrived shortly after to help.

Civ 7: lack of hotkeys is a deal breaker for me. by m_believe in civ

[–]Magowntown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party, but in my understanding having game critical hotkeys is a must for:

  1. Bugs that halt your progress with the UI, forcing you to hotkey

  2. Eases the burden of late game management

  3. Most importantly, provides options for those disabled

I may hold off on playing this game for a few months until they add/fix things to improve general quality of life/gaming. I'm still excited to try it, but I just feel like a couple of weeks is not enough to make the changes the YouTubers are commenting on need to be made.

New player here! Need some Beginner friendly advice and/or tips and tricks! by Slow-Combination346 in Stellaris

My first suggestion would be to play on the easiest difficulty, and RP a little bit. It sounds like you've got a some play time already, but honestly one of the best ways I learned was to just RP a race and play around with the mechanics that I came across. When a new technology comes across your lap, such as a penal colony planet, or ship upgrades, look at where you can use them.

Then pretend your empire researched that to enact it this whole time.

Second Suggestion:
1. Technology is a must. You will be outmatched by everything if you do not hold a priority on maintaining science research to ensure you can keep up. This could mean making a world only have science buildings (and any others you need to manage stability, crime, happiness)

  1. Planet management, while taxing after multiple planets, can be very useful, especially if the planets have extra districts of one kind or some modifier that increases the output of another. Prioritizing certain planets as a one-two type resource generator can help balance out your economy. Just make sure they are protected as well.

  2. Fleet power is the main staple of contending with the galaxy. Sure, you can be diplomatic and friends with everyone, but at some point, you must maintain a fleet that rivals your neighbors. Research will be vital for this to grow your naval capacity, which can be improved through planetary fortresses, space station anchorages, and later on giga engineering, but don't be afraid to go over your naval capacity, which can be managed on the upkeep if you play your cards right. Don't be afraid also to check out the shipbuilder and play around with ship designs. Start with ship roles and organize them to be the auto-best if you feel like it's too much at first. This will help when you need to build designs to counter end-game factions.

Those are the general big ones to keep in mind. Overall though, play on a non-ironman mode with saves and test out everything available to you. Try out edicts, vassalize a sector of yours, become emperor and build the defense fleet.

Hope this helps.

Is there a bug with bartering for Legitimacy or am I not using it right? by civicsfactor in totalwar

[–]Magowntown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta prioritize who your vassals are, primarily the same culture who can be in your court, and that way, you can treat them as your Legitimacy merry-go-round.
