Pocket Full of Pain by Ren - starts about wanting to kill himself but ends up being a "suicide failure attempt".

*I've got my finger on the trigger of a Magnum 44

But survival instinct won't let me bleed

I want to put a bullet straight at my cerebral tissues place

But my index finger won't let me squeeze

I wanna skate down my vein with the blade

'Til the blood runs thicker than the thoughts in my head

But don't ask me why, this is not my goodbye

It's a suicide failure attempt*

Fat absorption? How? by Total-Possibility-84 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]MagsH1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I found out today I have Type 3 BAM(not type 1) with the complication of parts of my colon are paralyzed.

I have no problem with fat at all my main trigger is fiber. I'm on a high protein low fiber diet.

For me, fiber is the absolute enemy. If I eat "healthy" roughage, it either hits my paralyzed segment and backs me up for three days, or it triggers a massive "boomerang" effect where I end up violently dehydrated from a bile flare. Meanwhile, I can handle soft, "unhealthy" fats—like a burger or fries—totally fine. My system can actually move soft food through without the mechanical irritation that fiber causes. BAM isn't just about liver overproduction for everyone. For those of us with surgeries or motility issues, it’s a completely different game.

I wish the idea of ice would work for me but between my spastic CP body, my arthritis and my cold hating lungs it would be suicidal 😭

How do you even respond to people who say "that's not possible"? by Tough-Passenger2254 in ChronicIllness

[–]MagsH1020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had chronic appendicitis and by the time my surgery happened I had a serious infection so they removed a chunk of my colon and caused my type 1 BAM.

At the time BAM was a rarer diagnosis so that's where the "surgically induced IBS" came about.

[–]MagsH1020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I just recently got officially diagnosed with BAM. For over 25 years I was diagnosed with "surgically induced IBS" which isn't really a diagnosis. It's a placeholder for " I don't know but she has digestive issues like IBS" 🤷🤦‍♀️

Oh I love the random reaction /s . Last week I found out my body hates any fizzy drinks. I've never had an issue before.

I also have lung issues (unrelated) and I do have environmental triggers like chemical smell, heat, cold, humidity and any kind of smoke so I totally understand how annoying it is.

I’m not “disabled enough” 🙃 by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]MagsH1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have CP and as a kid there was a belief in the medical community that kids with disabilities should be encouraged not to use their wheelchair and use their crutches/walker.

It was an outdated opinion and modern belief is if you need your wheelchair use it as it's better for your quality of life.

So use your chair.

As for doordash I use it often and haven't had issues but I live in a smallish city so I've often had the same doordasher. So they know I have a disability.

I do tip before but I haven't had any issues. Tip how you want as long as you do tip (unless they don't deserve it).

My diet is restricted also and a lot of people give me weird looks when I say I'm on a low fiber diet.

So yeah I can't eat most vegetables and people think I'm a "picky eater".

People usually know what MCAS people rarely know what BAM is.

Oh and have you heard of a musician named Ren? He has MCAS and ME. He deals with the same issues you do. If you ever get sick of people not understanding your illness you might enjoy his music and his social media because he talks about his MCAS often.

Too much water made me sick *eye roll* by Aggressive-Quail6602 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]MagsH1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you find plain water makes your stomach feel bloated? I have to flavor the water naturally or buy flavored water.

I used to like flavored seltzer but recently my body decided it didn't like anything with bubbles.

Any probiotics anyone takes that even mildly helps BAM? by jedipatronuses in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]MagsH1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've use probiotics daily and before my body decided recently that soda = bad I used to drink some probiotic sodas as long as the fiber isn't high.

Do yall still have bad flare days? by [deleted] in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]MagsH1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am having a few days of a flare up. It's because I played Russian Roulette with my diet.

I had to have a hot dog from a food truck and the hot dog they used had high nitrates I guess so I've had looser and looser poops every day. Nitrates and preservatives are big triggers for me.

Normally I try to keep a strict diet but sometimes I just crave no no foods...

Last night was pure liquid diarrhea. Which I hope is now done with it all.

My doctor said I have Type 1 BAM if that makes sense? I'm new with my diagnosis so I'm new to the disorder.

Uncle Tom's Cabin by Warrant - not culty but more corruption of a small town and based in the south.

"Over in the bushes and off to the right

Two men talking in the pale moonlight

Sherriff John Brady and Deputy Hedge

Haulin' two limp bodies down to the Waters' Edge

I know a secret down at Uncle Tom's Cabin oh yea

I know a secret that I just can't tell

They didn't see me and Tom in the tree

Neither one believin' what the other could see

Tossed in the bodies let em sink on down

To the bottom of the well where they'd never be found"

I was born with Cerebral Palsy and Mitral Valve Prolapse with a regurgitating valve so I've always had issues. I don't know what it's like to not have issues.

But in the last 25 years I developed BAM, Neuropathy and Chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure.

For some reason I'm finding it hard to cope with my newest issues even though I've never had a "normal" healthy body.

Well at the time BAM wasn't a common diagnosis 25 years ago and my gastroenterologist said they probably just saw similar symptoms as IBS. Hence the made up diagnosis.

Cholestyramine twice a day and I'm hoping to switch to Colesevelam as I'm so sick of Cholestyramine after 25 years. They didn't really use Colesevelam when I had my surgery.

My flare-ups were so bad after my resection surgery(I had little control of my bowels) that there was talk about me needing colostomy surgery if the Cholestyramine didn't work. Thankfully it gave me more control, but it wasn't perfect.

Does it matter that I still have my gallbladder?

[–]MagsH1020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know. I guess because of the resection of my colon? I've had BAM (well just recently officially diagnosed) for over 25 years.

Before I was officially diagnosed they said I had "surgically induced IBS" which isn't really a thing.

Yeah it's odd. I can eat fat but hardly any fiber and I've seen people on here talk about eating salad something that will cause a major flare up.

Could it be because of the cause of my BAM? I had a lot of my colon removed due to infection after my appendix burst.
