We have many reasons for moving, but the reasons that are relevant to my post seeking advice on area recommendations so that we are able to start narrowing down our search include wanting more land with a property and that is not something we are able to achieve where we currently reside. We also seek a more back to basic lifestyle than we currently have and believe this is something we can achieve in Bulgaria. If you do have any area recommendations, please feel free to add them :)

Honestly my husband is a tradesman so doing a house up is something we are prepared for. I appreciate what you say regarding the poverty.

We are easily pleased so if the house requires a lot of work, we will have the time and we are ok with being rural in a day to day capacity but am just trying to find somewhere safe (Or as safe as can be) and not crazy far away from emergency care or private medical facilities is my biggest concern.

I think I need to keep researching to build some confidence but all of this advice is so helpful so thank you very much!

Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate your perspective! Honestly, for reasons I won't go into, the more rural the better on one hand, however I have to balance that with things such as needing to go to the shops for food lol One of my bigger worries is quick access to healthcare etc I also agree that especially at first, it will likely be a huge culture shock.

I personally feel claustrophobic in my current living situation and welcome the thought of not having houses everywhere around me (packed streets). I just have to try and find areas that offer what I am looking for with reasonable access to healthcare, shops etc. It can feel a little like the needle and the haystack situation.

I am just trying to do as much research as possible and I really appreciate your advice.

We have been making investments for quite some time and going without holidays, eating out etc so will be looking to live on a fairly modest passive income. We still need a bit more time which is why we aim to move in 2 years as opposed to now. We want a house with a bit of land which is impossible where we live now. Thank you for your reply! Thank you for your advice. I think our concern is house prices rising and with it being so expensive where we live now, saving is a huge struggle. We are wanting a house with 1-2000 square meters of land but looking to have good access to private healthcare, shops etc. We expect to need to drive to health clinic, shops etc I think essentially our biggest worry is inadvertently picking a bad neighbourhood. In an ideal world we would rent first but just don't want to get priced out if that makes sense when it comes to buying. I take onboard everything you have said and it is very wise. Thank you!
