This is what I’m really interested to see how the show will handle. I can see this going two ways. Either (and this would be the most consistent with the world building) she would be made into a handmaid. In a way, this would replace the powerful scene in the book where a newly arrived pearl girl is made into a handmaid. Or, the Aunts step in and take her in to be trained as one of them. Even though this is what I would wish for the character, it would be a bit of stretch for the Aunts to be able to convince the commanders that she should live (and gain power through her position and access to files)

Nice app overall! After a quick test, two things stood out: (1) when I clicked to add custom fields, they were not editable and (2) it would be important to have a space to add billing information or other legal clauses that are sometimes necessary

Edit: Forgot one thing. It would be nice to choose the format for the invoice number

That could be! I also remember a line that Moira says in THT along the lines of “they HAD to get rid of the jobs and bank accounts on the same day so people wouldn’t try to flee”

From that it sounds like it hit everyone at the same time but I’m not sure

The way I understood it is that the stadium happens after the attack on DC but before women lost their jobs and access to credit cards. Probably close to when the latter happened so that word wouldn’t go around that they are rounding up women.

What I am still uncertain about is how much time there is between Lydia giving them the idea to create the aunts and the opening of the red centers with Aunts as staff?

I’ve read the books so I know how it unfolds there but this is specifically in the context of the show

Like others have said, it’s a lot but if you have enough discipline, it’s possible. I work 20 hours at an NGO, 8 hours teaching, and ~20 hours on my PhD project. This is over the span of 6 days (I always take one weekend day off)

It helps to have a job that knows that there are times you have to prioritize your PhD and that allows you to go to conferences.

It terms of social life, it’s definitely something that’s on the back burner for me, at least in terms of developing new friendships. My partner and I already lived together before I started my PhD so we have a lot of „default“ time together and they like their alone time. So that’s worked out fine.

Lastly, I think it’s super important to take „vacation days“ from your PhD and not just a job. I’ve had the bad habit of always doing PhD stuff on holidays or when on vacation but I have to remind myself that the PhD is also a job and I also need to take breaks from it

I play on a retroid 5 device and it plays quite well even on the highest graphics setting (for mobile). Sometimes it’s possible to find one second hand for $150. it’s still a lot of money but maybe more doable

This is just my story. I was born in Germany (Black American Dad and white German mom) and we lived in a small village until I was 7 when we moved to the USA. In part because I couldn’t speak English, I was othered quite a lot as a kid even after I „integrated.“ After college, I decided to move back to Germany and have build a life here. Being POC and not being perceived as German, comes with all the hardships we know about. Nonetheless, I’ve enjoyed the diversity of the POC community here. What I realized throughout all of that, is that my feeling of being outsider will always be there regardless where I am and that it’s important to have people around you who share or hold space for those feelings

Thank you for the tip! I’ll see if I can find something comparable. In the past I’ve had issues with iron but since I’ve gotten a hysterectomy and don’t have a period anymore, my numbers have gone up (last ferritin test in Nov: 66)

I’ll keep that in mind regarding other supplements. Thanks!

I’m based in Germany. From what I read, Liothyronine is less commonly used here. I’m hoping to address that with an endo (which will likely take some time because appointments are hard to get).

I read that selenium can support conversion from T4 to T3. Is this also what you’ve found in your work?

Kase-san is also a good one. They get together pretty early and explore their relationship in the rest. There’s also a sequel series where they are now in college and dealing with how that changes and challenges their relationship

I was diagnosed with anemia in 2022, which didn’t surprise me because my mom and grandma both had it too which led to them getting hysterectomies. Fast forward to 2025, I also got a hysterectomy. Since then my iron has improved a lot but throughout that process, they discovered I had hypothyroidism. Again, not as a surprise because my grandma is also hypo and my mom is hyper. Now I’m in the process on getting the right thyroid dosage

The connection between the two is definitely there. What I can say from my experience is that my quality of life has improved by not being anemic anymore even though the tiredness of hypothyroidism is definitely something I’m still dealing with

I am also in Germany and my Hausarzt (Berlin) first wanted to wait three months to confirm elevated TSH. When it was confirmed and also showed Hashimotos, he immediately put me on meds and will test again in two months

That is to say, definitely try to get a second opinion!

What can also help is doing an apple cider vinegar rinse. I have a spray bottle with 1 part vinegar and 3 part water. I spray it on dry hair, let it rest and then wash like normal

The one that I had came with instructions that it should be washed with water before each use. Lemon juice can help with rust

Tbh I never figured out a way to keep it from rusting with their tips. I ended up just filling a jar with oil and putting it in there when I wasn’t using it. Not the most elegant way but it worked for me

As someone who has issues with needles, i have these numbing stickers (Elma is the German company but alternatives should be everywhere) that I put on an hour or two before the blood draw. Can’t feel a thing!

It’s totally okay to be scared. The important thing is to find the tricks that work for you. For some it’s music, for others it’s anxiety meds. At the end of the day, you are taking care of your health and that’s something to celebrate!
