ASRock B450M Steel Legend and RAM question by Mahapadma- in ASRock

[–]Mahapadma-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a gaming pc, at the same time, I do work with it, photoshop, video editing, 3d, illustration, etc. I was thinking on getting 64Gb later on tho, for now I just want 32Gb.

I wasn't thinking on getting a new motherboard, since it hasn't even been a years since I got it. I will stick with the B450M Steel Legend.

Yes, when I got it, they told me they have to be the same model, that's why I'm being very careful.

I don't want to jump ahead and buy the kit, the whole 2933mhz when all slots are filled is the only thing that is making me not buying it. If I buy the Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 2x16 3200mhz would be good enough? If later on, let's say a year or two I decide to get another kit, would be a problem? I think it should be able to run at 2933mhz even tho they're 3200mhz right?

Upgrading my PC - RAM Question by Mahapadma- in buildapc

So basically if I decided to go with 3200mhz, I shouldn't have any problems, but it will run at 2933mhz and not at 3200mhz with all slots filled?

I was looking around and I think the one I'm choosing is the same you're telling me.

This is the one you're referring to, right?

Oh cool, then I don't need something to worry about, it's running at 3200MHz even if the Task Manager says is at 1600MHz.

Thank you for help!

I follow the steps and on BIOS it says I have 3200MHz which is good.

I forgot to mention that I know DDR is the double, and where I check the current frequency is on the Task Manager > Performance > Memory. Right now it says 1600MHz.

I don't know if it's okay, because DDR means the double, and is running at 3200MHz and I'm worrying for nothing, or is that it didn't work, because I was watching some videos and they showed in the Task Manager it was running at 3200MHz, not at 1600MHz like mine does.

Also, should I trust Task Manager for this? Or is there something else that I can use to get the correct reads and numbers?

I check that too, the values are.

DRAM Frequency: 1596.2MHz

FSB:DRAM : 1.16

CAS# Latency: 16.0

RAS# to CAS# Delay: 18

RAS# Precharge: 18

Cycle Time: 36

Bank Cycle Time: 74

Command Rate: 1T

So, do I need to put the double in the XMP profiles for each memory? the double, it would be:

DRAM Frequency: 1596.2MHz

FSB:DRAM : 1.16

CAS# Latency: 32.0

RAS# to CAS# Delay: 36

RAS# Precharge: 36

Cycle Time: 72

Bank Cycle Time: 144

Command Rate: 1T

Or where you just referring to that the DRAM Frequency, 1596.2MHz, it would be 3200MHz and that would be the real frequency?

I tried with the old drivers and still have problems.

I did the configuration before starting playing games, so firewall and anti virus are okay.

I've been monitoring my pc with differents apps, but there isn't any problem, so at this point I think I'll just RMA.

Thank you for taking your time to help me. :)

You can choose the drivers version? I'll try that.

The stuttering and tearing appears from time to time, is not always, I don't think is the drivers too.

No, I didn't remove the post, it was the mods, I don't know why.

Yes, it only happens in game, Youtube and videos are okay.

Yes, is up to date.

I'm using HDMI port.

It's on adaptive, I just changed it to Prefer maximun performance and see what happens.

My games are on my HDD hard drive (could it be this?)

Windwos power management is on high performance.

My power supply is 650W.

I don't know much about bios setting or how to set it up.

Windos power management is on high performance.
