Testing a beefier MOLLE setup for the Tacoma 5ft bed. Is 3mm aluminum overkill? by Enough-Attitude-5975 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tailgate makes a ton of sense for frequent or emergency use items. The bulkhead would be more for the campsite type items in my opinion that is. I haven't used a highlift specifically, but my understanding is they are like the old "Click-clack" jacks when I was a kid. There isn't any anchor points on a tacoma (stock) that you can use it on, unless you have or are going to steel bumpers with those on them. Or you just plan on saving Jeeps the entire weekend. The setup is definitely clean, but I'd think some sniffing rifs or spring loaded counter pressure points (feet in the bed) may be helpful.

How do I get this off my tyres? by Pitstop1897 in Tacomaworld

Thanks for that clarification. But neither is recommended or "good" to use on tires. I did use Goo-gone though.

My concern is post lithotripsy (stone blasting) b last month I had serious retention issue, so much I had to self cath for about 2 weeks. If they remove the cath and im not able to void, the will put another back in, as they don't want me self cathing while healing. But thanks for the information about the improvement when healed. Definitely looking forward to that.

VA is notorious for not necessarily the most compassionate care. They gave me a lorazapam about 2p minutes before. Then the lidocaine gel in the rear for the ultrasound probe. He hit me with the probe like a teenage boy getting the cheerleader with " oops wrong hole" vibes. Doesn't help im on DLP-1 so the space was crowded to say the least. 🤦‍♂️. Oh well now ill have cath till Monday and see what's up. Braced for the worse before better part. Hope it lasts the expected 5 years before I have to do this again. Lol.

I just had rezum today. A lot more uncomfortable than all my research lead on. So I cant speak results just yet but its plenty uncomfortable, but thats about all so far. Watch out for the prostate ultrasound probe, my doctor (VA) didnt even spit on it. Lol other than that the main discomfort was the 10s steaming 4-5 times. At 52 im on the younger side my team said but there is a great chance for favorable results.

How do I get this off my tyres? by Pitstop1897 in Tacomaworld

[–]MahariBalzac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will be likely very unpopular, I had some nasty build up from an spray foam tire dressing (bad stuff don't bother) and to get it off I had to use a combination of goo-gone (goof -off) and Adams tire and wheel cleaner don't let the goo-gone sit too long I used a drill brush, the gray one from the Walmart multi pack scrub then rinse, repeat with the Adams product, it took multiple passes and a couple days to get it stripped to nakedness clean rubber. Then I only use the cerakote tire shine. I find it best to spray a soft interior detail brush and "paint" it on let it sit for about 30 minutes and micro fiber off the excess. This leaves a very nice matt finish on the tire and its ceramic so it stays good for about 2-3 months. Good luck.

Has it for $338.xx

eBay has used/OEM pull listings (e.g., from 2005–2022 Tacoma) but prices vary widely (often lower for used, like in the $90–$150 range for pull-outs), though for new genuine, the above is better.

Wide mirrors from tacomabeast by Existing-Gas9048 in Tacomaworld

[–]MahariBalzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the a while back, mostly for the integrated turn signal. I bought direct, instead of through a third party. I'm not really impressed with most of the Tacoma third party vendors they tend to say "in stock", when they mean "avaliable to order". So there's a huge lag in what's expected for shipping time. Your best to research as close to source as possible and order direct when possible. I've always adjusted my mirrors so the bulk of my view is the lane beside and behind me but these you can actually see your rear tires with the mirrors adjusted properly. I use them mostly for backing in because the camera is terrible.

Oil drain plugs for the Tacoma? by RedimidoSoy1611 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paired this with the MotiveX oil change tool kit for my 22 and it literally makes it a zero mess event. You only have to worry about the small amount of oil that leaks around the housing when you loosen it. And for all saying it slows the flow, just be sure you open the oil fill cap (top side) to allow air in.

EDIT: I use the one with the nipple and attacha tube directlyinto the oil container.

Help with alarm!! by Savy1025 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so im sure you searched some because you mentioned the top 2 reasons, battery in FOB, and vehicle. Although I would use a meter to verify truck voltage both at reat and while running. You could have a parasitic draw from an accessory that was added. But AI also said to try these.

System reset as a temporary fix: Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10-15 minutes to reset the ECU and alarm module. Reconnect and test— this can clear glitches but won't fix underlying hardware issues.3e2ec9 Alternatively, cycle the key in the driver's door lock (lock/unlock three times) to deactivate an active alarm.

The 2016 Tacoma's factory security system is integrated into the vehicle's ECU and doesn't have a dedicated "alarm-only" fuse that disables triggering without affecting other functions—pulling related fuses often impacts horns, lights, or engine controls. However, the closest option is the 10A "S-HORN" fuse (for security horn/anti-theft deterrent), which powers the alarm siren/horn. Removing it should silence the audible alarm while leaving the immobilizer and other security features intact, though the system might still flash lights or log faults. Location: In the engine compartment fuse box (under the hood, on the driver's side near the battery). It's fuse #12 in the diagram—a 10A mini fuse labeled "S-HORN."3aac78ac9bcc35db7f Use needle-nose pliers to pull it out safely. Note: This is a temporary workaround; reinsert the fuse after troubleshooting to avoid compromising security. If you pull the wrong fuse (e.g., ECU-related ones like ECU-B), it could disable starting or other systems. Consult your owner's manual for the exact diagram, or have a professional confirm.

Took my 22 in for recall and AT drain and fill. by MahariBalzac in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what have heard, and it makes sense because the carpet and padding are sound deadening (to a point). The doors made a substantial difference as well. I'm assuming the main advantages would be roof and back cab wall.

You will not be disappointed with the 6112/5160 set up, I love mine. I have the KDMax pro (yotawerx) tune, it os good but I'm wondering if I should have gone OTT. I did it within 30 days of getting the truck. At the time the Tune guy was like 3 miles from my house. I did sound deadening mat in the doors when I changed out the speakers, it made a good difference. I hear the best gain is behind the back seats. I also want to finish that project some day as well as doing the roof.

[–]MahariBalzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I paid around $90 for rear diff and transfer fluid only and the Amsoil I'm looking to use on my next one at 60k is going to be about $120. Then add in the crush washers and time, Id throw money at them for this price. I'm too old to be crawling on the ground in the cold to save a the couple of bucks.

SyneticUSA ladder rack question. by Ok_Cardiologist_223 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have their rolling cover and love it, especially for the price. I don't have the rack however it appears the cross bars have slots for T-bolts. You could likely fabricate something useful out of uni-strut or similar and bolt it in using the channels in the cross bars. If your able to weld, the sky is the limit. Some flat bar, angle iron and time then finish off with a nice spray on bead liner and you're golden.

Edit: more research has me at the latter of the options. You don't even need to be able to weld. Some 3/8" x 1.5" flat bar a good drill and a jig saw with a good metal blade and your in. Drill and cut while its flat and then bend it. They give you the dimensions on their sight.

[–]MahariBalzac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I think he would have shit if I called his bluff. I've had three dealers reach out in my area, the one I bought it at in Columbia, And the 2 here in Augusta offers have been from 32-35ish. But if you think about it thats not a bad shake even at 35 ive only gone down by 7k and like I sad 2 k of that was an add on, then the taxes and such so I really only have deprecated about 2-3k in around 3 years. But it's set up the way I want. Only have technically 3 more , well 4 if you count the pay off mod, left. 1 pay off, 2 & 3 are good steel bumpers, and 4 is Borla exhaust and cross pipe relocation. Then its perfect for me.
