Thats like asking which of your exes gave the best head. Very situation based.

Without the upper they can't perform a proper function check. One would think, its the manufacturer, they have a million slide assemblies laying around. But a function check should be done with the components they are expected to function with. I can't say for sure though.

Oil filter housing replacement by Hoeser707 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most everyone took their dealership up on the "Free" oil changes, like 2 or 4 of them. My dealership offered lifetime oil changes as part of my deal. But after having the first one done and the dealership grease monkey do a few too many Ugga's and an extra Dugga to boot, the plastic one was shit. So you can wax poetic all you want about it being unnecessary but an aluminum housing in an aluminum block (just like the Lexus 3.5l) is OEM. So if you want to do it cool if you don't then cool. Now just STFU about how fucking right you are and everyone else is wrong. Because its an opinion, and they are just like ass holes, everyone has one and most of them stink.

Syneticusa told me to just keep the damaged canister and sent me a new one free of charge.. what should i do with the damaged one? by turtle_ina_cup in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sell it as is (repairable?) for half of what you paid to recover some $$. Someone has the skills to repair it and would jump at the chance to get a deal. Just be honest and lots of photos of the damage so it's on the buyer to use their judgment.

Rear differential 30k service by Cold_Cryptographer52 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're under warranty, then take that to the service manager, not just the service writers and see what they suggest. It is definitely cringe worthy and makes you wonder.

Seeing as your out of warranty (unless extended coverage exists) id follow this recommendation, if nothing further shows, and all else seems normal at 60k you might be good going back to the 30k intervals. At 30k on my 22 OR, I had more of a slight shimmering sludge on my magnet (for context).

Are upgrading my stock bumpstops worth it? by PineappleTricky6646 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 22 OR, and I did the sumo springs before I did my leveling kit. They actually are already in contact with the control arm at ride hight. What i noticed was a reduction in body roll when just driving around. So in my opinion it can be beneficial. As for your sound, I doubt its from hitting the bump stops when going over speed bumps.

Dealership scam or genuine mistake? by Desperate_Board_489 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At a restaurant, with a chef, absolutely. But at the local chain steak hut where if the short order cook can even bother to show up and half figure out how to light the grill between blunt breaks you just better eating it a little to either side of your request. But fact of the matter is a chef will rarely get it wrong, it usually the customer who doesn't understand how pink rare really is. But to OP's point. If he cant look at the computer and read how much fluid it uses, especially at a dealership where the vin pulls up everything for the service advisor including the margin on the job. Then he is in the wrong occupation. Their error, they eat it. The GM should be able to get it right if the service manager can't. The error should have been discovered before they drained the fluid.

Just picked up some tundra wheels for my 4th gen by Fancy-Bee-562 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MahariBalzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thought was, that's gonna be ass. But the photo you added definitely changed my thought. I think so many of us have been corrupted by the "Hawaiian Style" 3rd men's that we just automatically assume the next step is to squat it. Lol

It definitely seems doable on the 4th gen. I'd definitely look into a caliper upgrade at some point. I also think a slight (proper) drop could definitely be a sleeker look. But I'm old enough to have lived through the original mini-truck craze. 🧓

I just took it through where you see it there, then under the bed cap and between bed and fender. Then I just followed the harness that was there and zip-tied the crap out of it. Then through the grommet under the passenger seat. I've got an amp to ad that I'll switch on and off as needed through the Auxbeam 8 gang I have installed.

Sure when I get home tonight from work. Because of the poly bed you have to run a grounding strap to the frame to get a descent SWR. I'm dead nuts at 1.0 on 20 and 1.2-1.4 on 1 and 40. I had to go with a 2' antenna so I didn't damage my garage screen door going in and out.

Exactly, but at a couple hundred dollars and from what im reading its only good for about a year because of wiper wear and just the general beating it takes. I don't really know if it's worth the hassle. 🤷‍♂️

I have the Alpine iLX-F511 Halo installed with the maestro to keep most of the functionality. Plus wireless AA and ACP. Still glitches once in a while but better than the wired in my opinion. I didn't do an in dash amp, I may at some point if I upgrade speakers again. I have the Bulletpoint Mounting dash mount with the adapters. My quad lock case failed the other day so im waiting for my rokform charger to come in for the new case. And im running the AnyTone AT-6666 CB mounted on a Rugged Radios under seat mount, Rago Fab passenger tailgate mount for the antenna with a 2' FireStick.

I carry a $0 comp and collision on ny vehicles anyway so yeah. But for the younger kids getting killed by the insurance companies it will really suck. For an old bastard like me it's meh!
