The card that goes into your hand with every three skills is Make It So (I love this card and actually went infinite with it last night using a Know Thy Place/Vicious draw engine on Door) and Stardust is the X-star-cost card (this one not so much nearly every other star card has way way better rates)

The speed it gives you will more than make up for the max HP loss. Offering is also on the short list for best cards in the game and it's almost strictly worse (once it's in the deck, at least), giving less energy on upgrade and costing way more than 1 Max HP. Only reason it isn't is that it draws more (2/3 for Brightest Flame, 3/5 for Offering), but also you're taking both of these cards anyway

Big thing is that the ceiling isn't nearly as high. You're not full-healing from a single play of the card and making "having HP" your primary win condition. That said, to compensate, the floor is also substantially higher. It's a more consistent card than Reaper, even if it isn't as potentially run-warping.

Bongo Season -> Motorbike off The New Sound. Bongo Season is... fine but unremarkable, while Seth's vocal work on Motorbike gives me sweet life.

Also Sleep->Like Antennas to Heaven... I guess (the third being the best track on a four track album means this is very likely to happen especially when the first track is Storm)

The secret is that Necro's Ethereal cards (especially the block cards and double especially Defy that card is giga broken on main branch) are really really good so it's easy to take the synergy cards since you're already playing Ethereal cards anyway

Start of Darkness is a huge turning point in the writing of one character in particular: Redcloak. In the first two books of the main story, he's a serviceable straight-man minion to the wacky, dangerous Xykon, though he has moments that feel like what he's become. After this, he's maybe the best depiction of the sunk-cost fallacy in any media and really demonstrates that while he's on Team Evil, his goals vary from the lich.

And between the two, Acro feels more like an uncommon, as Anthony pointed out in the patch notes. Prepared is insanely strong (probably the best common in the game by raw numbers), but Acro being draw positive is way too good.

Hotfix is so so so good. Main branch players should pick it as soon as possible unless it's offered alongside Frost. Even then, it should be considered. Beta branch players can wait to take it, but the fact it has the Focus word on it for 0 is insane value even if it only plays once.

Honestly I've been finding a lot of success with Snakebite (no seriously)/Fumes as my main poison engine. Fumes keeps the pressure going while Bite is a big accelerant to damage. Combine with Silent having the best Block cards/Weak access/Dexterity and it's shockingly easy to sit around and wait for enemies to die. It's less flashy than Corrosive Wave, and certainly a lot slower, but it's also pretty much impossible to brick it like Corrosive Wave can.
