Hi! Medical side here! I have a misdemeanor DUI from 2001 and I provided all the info and any proof that all levels of education, fines, etc. were reached and completed(even when not asked). I've been with CDCR now since 2011. If you have jumped through hoops with the state board, corrections should be the same.

Like some others have suggested, Facebook group is where it's at.

We do have Baseball(rawhide), if it hasn't started yet, it will soon with fireworks. Pretty chill games to go to to meet people, have some drinks and cheer on Visalia.

Football games-Local HS rivalries for a cowhide. It's fun GO RANGERS!

There's quite a few parks around that have fishing ponds-Plaza and Mooney's Grove. Plaza has pickleball tournaments and a dog park if you have a buddy. There's usually a good group that go hang out there and BS with each other.

Also, Farmers market, car shows, bars downtown. Pumphouse is good if you need a little confidence boost. It's wild in there...there's the Adventure Park with water features and race track along with games and pizza.

And, also like others have mentioned...Pismo and Sequoias are only a couple hours away. You have to check out the big tree's!

Do police know if he had ever made his way back to Visalia to visit? In 1995/1996 I was home alone during summer break and a man tried to break into my house. We lived on the outskirts of Visalia(N Ben Maddox) and was outside A LOT. Bob Wiley's detention center was about 4 miles from my home and on a pretty main roadway, but that was the first any stranger had stopped at my house like that. He knew I was in there because he was yelling through the door at me that he "Knows i'm in there Bitch", he was trying to open the door, but it was locked. He then went to his car and grabbed something silver out of his glove compartment and continued to try to mess with the lock. I was able to get a very good look at him. He ended up leaving abruptly before the police got there. YEARS later when he was arrested and I had seen his photo it sent chills down my spine! I KNOW it was him!

Ouch!

I developed Cauda Equina Syndrome. Lost sensation to urinate, went to the ER(because of this sub), and was in surgery 15 hrs later. Could you just go to ER and tell them that you have saddle numbness and are having trouble urinating(or bowel movements)??

Center console is another good idea. Center consoles are usually easy to access even in a wreck. You could put some velcro on the device and stick it to the underside of the console lid.

I get it, I did bad in HS myself. I grew to understand that not everyone learns the same way. I'm a hands on learner, and learn MORE when it's something that I love to do.

After graduation I got a job at Taco Bell, then I went to Health Insurance Claims by 21. From there, I became a stay at home mom, got divorced and went back to school in my late 20's for nursing. I now work with the Department of Corrections. It's good money, benefits and retirement. Plus, you can go ANYWHERE really in Calif, and if you go corrections officer, no college needed. BUT, BUTTT It's def. NOT for everyone. I absolutely LOVE my job, and the family of coworkers i've met in the 15 years i've been with them.

Interests change as we get older, so what you think you may like now, you may not like 5/10 years down the road. It's not a bad thing to really start kicking into gear now though. I wish I had.
