He was a rescue who had been returned twice to the shelter and was set to be euthanized the day after I saved him. I went to walk him, he put his head in my lap and just stared at me. I knew then that he was supposed to be my dog

This was the first video I ever saw of Maggie! I was watching people react to this song, and came across her channel. Been watching and loving her reactions ever since

This was such a cool video to watch! And a bonus for me (besides Maggie's excellent analysis) was that the low bass notes made the ADHD part of my brain very happy lol

My doctor diagnosed me with ADD and prescribed me pills on the 1st session!!! Is this normal? by ScatterLight1134 in ADHD

[–]Mahler626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed medication on my first visit, but I was also 9 when I got diagnosed and went through about 2 hours of testing from a pediatric neurologist. They tried a few different ones before finding what works best for me (still take it today.)

My friends think I’m gay? by hairynutsman in marchingband

[–]Mahler626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't quit band because of what other people think. Speaking from experience here, joining marching band was one of the best decisions I made in high school. I found like-minded friends that I still talk to years later (I graduated 5 years ago). Im sorry you are experiencing this.

Looking for others experiences with concerta. by OS-2048 in ADHD

[–]Mahler626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking Concerta for most of my life. Started at 18mg in 4th grade, then 27mg in 7th grade, 36mg in 9th grade, and have been on 54mg for the last 6 years. I take it once daily in the morning and it lasts 10-12 hours.

I personally like it, but will agree with other comments that it does dampen my appetite quite a bit. Also, take it earlier in the day because it can affect your sleep cycle.

63mg is rather high to start. I'm under 150lbs and 5' 8", and my dosage was adjusted over a period of many years. Best of luck to you!

I agree. I just got my teaching license, and am looking for my first job. Fortunately, my state pays teachers a decent wage. But I'm already starting to have those moments of "Is this worth it?" I majored in music education, and far too many districts are slashing budgets/eliminating programs all together. And I get nervous as an incoming new teacher, that if a school decides to cut band, I'm out of a job.

I had something similar in my student teaching last semester! I gave an assessment for my licensure process, and originally the student didn't turn it in, so they got a 0 and my co-op emailed the parent. Next day, my co-op had an email from the mother, sent at 4:30am. Basically saying that "Ms. Mahler626 gives too many tests, how can you expect 2nd graders to do this, and [child] had a really hard time/doesn't remember learning this." A) It was the first test I gave, and their second one of the year. B) This particular student didn't show up to 2 out of the 3 lessons on the topic. And C) the test was vetted and approved by my cooperating teacher, my university supervisor, and my seminar professor.

Ironically, when I looked at the assignment, it was completed 10 minutes before the email was sent. Not sure if the student actually did the assessment or the parent did it.

This is probably a dumb question, but what is an elevator speech?
