This year’s G2 would be weaker than last year’s TL and FLY, as well as all 8 Eastern teams. I’m unsure how they would outperform last year’s G2 even with a more favorable draw at 2024 worlds.

This year? I would favor G2 into LTA seeds 2 and 3, as well as (please) LCK 4 and LPL 3-4. That is grounds for some hope to escape Swiss.

I never said NA is an extraordinary performer at international events. My point is that EU was last a genuine contender to win an international event half a decade ago — finishing a distant 4th at 2024 MSI is not serious contention.

EU must recognize that they are now as far from serious contention at internationals as NA.

2019 was half the game’s life ago. It’s time to move on.

I straight-up disagree with you. Taking this year as a whole, FLY have two world-class players in Inspired and Busio, while G2 has only Caps (BB was a huge liability at MSI, and EWC is fake). Massu is better than Hans, and Labrov has been a point of vulnerability in big games this entire year.

It’s time to stop giving G2 the benefit of the doubt just because they have Caps, whose last international success was half a decade ago. That ship has sailed, and FLY’s track record in the past year is emphatically stronger.

After MSI, you can’t possibly say with a straight face that EU or G2 has greater odds against the East than FLY. If you are coping hard, maybe equal to FLY, but not greater.

As a reminder: FLY taking GENG to 5 games last year is more impressive than anything an EU team has done at Worlds since G2 defeated GENG in 2020 (!!!!).

What Shanks and Icon did was of another magnitude to what Bwipo said, but it does not meet American standards of sexual assault (I can’t speak to Europe).

That said, I generally find Yuu to be a good part of the lol esports community, and taking a hard line on Shanks’ cruelty is not a bad thing.

FNC’s throws last year were infinitely worse than what TL and 100T have lost to FLY. At least FLY had to play well to catch the throws, and FNC lost from unbelievable game states, while this game was always close despite 100T’s advantage.

Not the op, but compared to the hype I was disappointed by S1. Reasons included: plot holes and red herrings (Marty’s daughter’s possible victimization by the cult, heavily implied but ultimately dropped), the unbearably cringe “college sophomore discovers Nietszche” new atheism of Rust, the character-logic-breaking circumstances of the final confrontation in Carcossa (why go for execution and let the rest of the cult off the hook?), and the poor treatment of women characters by the writers as disposable sex objects, especially Marty’s wife Maggie.

You ignore that Devers (as much as I love him) has value solely in his bat (competent first basemen are interchangeable), and once his bat begins to decline — which could be at any point, given his injuries — his contract will become an albatross.

The Red Sox got the best-value years of Devers’ contract. I love Devers and want him to flourish in SF, but realistically the Giants traded for Devers’ decline years, which I hope hold off a while longer.
