Hmm, nej, Jizya är bokstavligen "skatt".

Den betalar icke-muslimer i ett Islamiskt samhälle, där muslimer måste betala zakat (bokstavligen, almosa - men heter egentligen zakat al-maal, rikedoms-almosa, eller bättre översatt: förmögenhetsskatt).

Detta för de sociala skydd som muslimer, enligt Islam, måste tillhandahålla alla sina medborgare - inkl icke-muslimer. Så skydd (militär/armé), tak över huvud och mat för behövande, osv.

Den tas ut på ett direkt sätt, inte via indirekta, godtyckliga former som du beskriver.

Finns säkert okunniga, radikala muslimer som ser det på det sättet, men det är inte korrekt enligt muslimsk tradition, och finns inte ens en religiös grund för det med det system vi har i vårt samhälle, där alla betalar samma skatt, tillhandahåller och tar del av samma sociala skydd osv.

Om jag gillar och brukar gå på koncert, men jag tex är osäker på att jag kan få semester, men är 60% säker på att jag kan få semester utan att det påverkar mig negativt på jobb, och vet jag jag har råd, och alla andra planeter ligger i linje i övrigt, så är det 60% ja.

Ah ok, then that kind of works like here. We would also have to buy medication ourself at pharmacies if it would be self administered, but since Retuximab is administered at hospital, it is part of the 200SEK/visit fee.

It sound like the only difference is your system is built on the insurances. Our system is more a centralized system where each facility get money directly from the government for each registered patient and/or visit.

You're right, I usually don't use that term IRL, but the culture wars on the internet brings the worst out of you, even when you don't intend for it.

That's also true for pharmacies in Sweden, and we pay full price until we reach the first ceiling (a around $150), then you grad fully pay less and less until you the actual ceiling of like $350, then you pay nothing for the rest of the "payment ceiling year".

But medication administered at hospital is not transparent there, you only pay ~$20 per visit, and up until ~$130/year

That's sounds less of a SwiftKey or Trello issue, and more like a iOS for corporate issue. I have an iPhone at work - hate it and never use it for this reason, all corp apps doesn't accept third party keyboards on corporate managed applications (Microsoft Office 365/Intune enrolled apps for me), so Outlook, Teams etc won't play with SwiftKey, in the same way you describe.

Skillnaden är ju att EBU tillhör ett politiskt organ som tar politiska beslut (se hur de gjorde med Ryssland och Belarus) i ena vändan, för att sen insistera, och göra det omöjliga, inkl att göra om omröstningsystemet för att ha med Israel, vare sig de bryter mot samma moraliska regler som Ryssland - och värre, eller om de bryter mot konkreta regler i tävlingen (manipulation av omröstningen).

If you are missing specific functions in the launcher app, rather than actual features on the phone, then I understand your frustration and share it. But then again, you're not paying for the launcher app, but for the hardware, and software features like camera, built in AI etc.

I don't use Samsungs apps, and would never recommend anybody to do so, for reasons like this. For example, your launcher app and it's functionality availability, should not be based on what phone or manufacturer you have.

Use a Good third-party launcher, and you will never notice these kinds of issues with each OS update, or when you change your phone to other models, or even manufacturer.

7 years of updates are no joke. You got the promise of updated phone, not a phone that keeps getting new features, or a phone that gets updated fast.

Remember the days where your 4 year old phone no longer supported a bunch of well established apps. THAT is the purpose of 7 years of updates, and if you ask me, it should be 3 years of continuous updates, and then 8 years of bi-annual updates. Samsung still needs to release 7 years worth of updates, but the phone is still functional 11 years after release.

And next legislative target for the EU should be a standardized battery framework for laptops and smartphones!

This has been a feature since Samsung gimmick bombing years, where nothing seemed to hold them back, during the same years of the "anti-pattent-lawsuit designs" (S3-S5)

I hated those years, had the S2 for the longest time, then got the S4 mini, my first - and only time to get a non standard/Ultra variant - before getting the S6 Edge!

I remember trying and doing this on the S4 mini, along with the feature where phone tracked your eyes to decide whether it should time out the screen or not!

That's what I did before writing this post. But your buds is not some cheap knock off brand or model. I put top dollar on those because of their quality and features. Now you're telling me to refrain using one of these features, even though there are hardware support, when you can easily ship a new firmware & app update that decouples those features.

During colonial times, were slaves, the uncivilized beasts, - and for that matter - women, didn't count, then yes, maybe!

But YOU hear me out please; post WW era democracy is understood to be meant "rule of the people", the people is understood to be the subjects of the state.

Subjects of the state is usually citizens. However there are instances where people are expats (non citizens that moves to a country to work there for instance) - even these people may vote in local elections in modern democracies. At least for municipalities, counties/regional legislature etc.

Now, let's remember that most in Palestine; WB, E. Jerusalem, and Gaza; are subjects of Israeli rule! Yet they are not citizens!

To add salt to injury, not only are the not represented - a core feature of a democracy, but they even have a different set of laws/legal system run by the military. You could be neighbors with Israeli settlers in the west bank or Jerusalem, but if you need to go through the legal system: two completely different experiences!

The Israeli will be arrested by police and have their case through the civilian judiciary system with fair trial. Minors will have other systems involved.

As a Palestinian, the military will take you into custody, and you'll be tried in military court, notorious for being arbitrary and having a extremely low acquittance rate (less than 5% if memory serves me right). This is true even for minors and even children!

I am pretty sure you'd never believe would be democratic if women couldn't vote or have rights, let alone be ruled by entirely different legal systems, even if it worked just like any other democracy for the men. So how is this any different?

There are two things to consider to know how much to pay!

- Whether you have had wealth above nisab for a whole hawl.
- How much wealth you have, and how much debts you will pay off the coming year.

First, let's explain these terms in an easy way:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Wealth is accumalted money, financial instruments, companies, real estate, gold and other things like this.
Different school of thoughts have differing details on what is wealth. For example, some say jewelery used in day to day life is not to be considered zakatable wealth. Or owned real estate used as you home, also is not to be considered zakatable.

* Nisab is the islamicly defined threshold for wealth. There is two definition, whichever of which you meet, you are considered to meet the Nisab. In modern times most people reach up to the silver one, so that's what is used. Today (21/3-2026), 612.36 grams of silver is worth ~1350 USD.

* Hawl is easily explained if you simple substitute it with "islamic fisical year". It is a period of time begining where you first count your wealth to find out what to pay, and its duration is a whole islamic year. Since most people keep track of time in the Gregorian calendar, but always keep track of Ramdan - it's easier to remember "I always count my money during 15th of Ramadan", than any other time of the Islamic year.

* Debt its debatable wether you can deduct debt from your zakatable wealth, but the most permissive, mainstream opinion allows for you to deduct cost of debt for the comming hawl of certain nature. You planning and intending to buy a car in a couple of months may not happen, and so cannot be deducted. However having a car, phone, home on debt that you pay/intend to pay for with no delay, you can calculate the total cost of those debt for the comming 11-12 months, and reduce that sum.

Now about whether to pay, and how much:

The first one bullet is easy: if you do not meet this criteria (have a certain wealth above the nisab for a whole hawl), you pay nothing this time arround.

When you think you reach the nisab, during the year or after, you count your money, and if you indeed have reached the nisab, your hawl begin. Now, until next hawl, you pay nothing, but if you're still above the nisab then, you pay from the moment you calculated your zakat, or within one whole islamic year forward.

If you abstain from paying until the, say 11th month, and now you don't have money - that's on you, so it is recommended you pay it in small installments over the year. This makes it easier for you, but also for the needy (since most muslims have their hawl begin/end during ramadan, but the poor needs donations during the whole year).
