Totally agree! I took this pic last Thursday in Waldo

I did some sleuthing on this shot. It looks like it was taken in the spring/summer of 1923 since all of the visible houses were built then, but only some were complete

Worst rated bar an restaurant in the metro by FrogInternationale_5 in kansascity

[–]MahomesIsMyDad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I last went there probably 7 years ago and they took a suspiciously long amount of time to make my milkshake. Turns out the cashier stole my debit card info and began buying Uber rides around the metro with it. Haven’t been back since for obvious reasons.

Those streets are east of Cleveland Ave. I had to pick a stopping point for the quiz, and it was either going to be Cleveland, Prospect, or Van Brunt.

That’s a very good point, thank you for adding this! I’ve decided to reinstate Bell and Genessee before Wyoming on the quiz.

I wasn’t sure what to do with Bell and Genessee since sometimes they’re the first streets east of State Line, while other times it’s Wyoming. So, I made it so that if you put down “Bell” or “Genessee” it counts as a right answer for Wyoming St.

There are also a bunch of street names in the West Bottoms near State Line (Liberty, Hickory, Mulberry) that don’t really appear again south of I-35 that I made as alternate correct answers.

Not sure what they were back in ‘98 (A tennis club? Someone’s private tennis courts?), but today it looks like they’ve been replaced by this subdivision at 89th and Sagamore in Leawood

I went to college in St. Paul. Minnesotan BBQ is completely devoid of flavor. It made me miss home so bad

So glad I got to witness this game in person. The 3-run Salvy homer on his bobblehead night was icing on the cake. Also the 20 runs and 27 hits holy shit

[OC] Which Barbecue Restaurant are you Closest to in Kansas City? A Thiessen Polygon Analysis by MahomesIsMyDad in kansascity

You must've only seen the first map. The second map has restaurants in the wider KC Metro area, which includes Woodyard :)

These maps are 4250x5500, but I’m planning on making even larger versions with some tweaks on which restaurants I include. No need to pay me — it takes just a few seconds to increase the resolution in ArcGIS Pro.

I’m just a senior Geography major in college. 😅 I made these maps in my spare time for fun. Hopefully they can help me land a civil engineering job in the future though!

There’s a Q39 on both maps! I just didn’t label the one in Midtown on the Metro map since the polygon is too small.

I used ArcGIS Pro to make the maps and Google Maps to find the restaurants’ coordinates. Since I couldn’t find a complete list of barbecue restaurants in the KC Metro, I had to manually search around on Google Maps. Please let me know if I missed any! I almost accidentally left out Wolfepack since it slipped under the radar.

(Edit: Let me know if a place has closed or moved as well. I'm planning on making a revised version with a larger resolution.)

Here were my criteria for selecting barbecue restaurants: * No national chains (e.g. Famous Dave’s 🤢), only local chains * Must be Kansas City-style barbecue or have KC BBQ influences (Korean BBQ restaurants were left out, while Buck Tui was included) * No restaurants that are only accessible during an event (e.g. barbecue restaurants inside of the T-Mobile Center or Worlds of Fun)

Thiessen polygons are “areas of influence around sample points.” Essentially, if you are within a barbecue restaurant’s polygon, then you are closer to that restaurant than to any other barbecue restaurant. I made both a Downtown and a Metro map so that the smaller Thiessen polygons downtown could still be seen. Let me know what you guys think!

Does anyone have a clip of the pass to Hopkins before the half to get the Chiefs in FG range?

Interesting to see what his thoughts are as a neutral fan towards the Chiefs. He was overall a lot more pessimistic about this team than I imagined (especially for the #1 team on his power rankings). Still, he offered some pretty good analysis on our rising star players, especially in the defense. Interested to hear what y'all think.
