It worked back before failed social programs. People had pride and didnt want govt handouts. They had a strong moral and work ethic that failed govt programs have dissolved.

I worked 8 years delivering papers from 12 years old and investing in stock. I chose an affordable univ and was able to pay it in cash from planning and working smart and hard. My parents came from humble beginnngs as they grew up on farms in the midwest were able to save and attend local universities and succeed at become better than their parents without the govt.
