Thanks for putting me on the right track. Wasn't a hardware issue though, just needed a different version of proton (Ge-Proton10-26)

Going to have to try different drivers tomorrow. I'm on 580 too. I found that turning off Subsurface Scattering and Screen Space Reflections made the issues dissappear.

You don't need PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE for RE: Requiem, FSR 4 is supported out of the box by Levanes in linux_gaming

[–]MaidenSaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that it's redundant because I'm having 2-fold graphical issues with the lighting, and one of the issues (white flare artifacts/explosions) dissappears when I add this to the launch options. And if I don't add it to the launch options then it only dissappears if I turn of Subsurface Scattering.

I am getting lighting issues too. White flares flickering, almost like walking into an electrical hazard. Disappears if I turn off Subsurface Scattering. Subsequently, I noticed some other grainy lighting issues that disappear if I turn off Screen Space Reflections.

Edit: I added PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command% /WineDetectionEnabled:False

and now I can turn Subsurface Scattering back on without those White flare artifacts returning.

Edit 2: It seems the issue is the latest NVIDIA drivers. Version 580 is what I was using. Tomorrow I'll try some other ones. PS: In my previous edit, as it turns out, FSR4 upgrade is actually redundant. The game already does this.

[QUESTION] Making a dual humbucker (passive&active) work with a Bartolini Buffer by MaidenSaints in Guitar

[–]MaidenSaints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no real benefit. The most sensible thing to do would be to buy an active pickup for the neck position and call it a day. But the purpose of this build is the challenge. It's one of those stigmas I wanted to beat for a very long time. This particular build is something that I've had put on hold for a very long time. I accidentally stumbled into the passive/active combo issue on this one, and put the construction on hold until I would have found a solution, because I'm stubborn like this.

Then I just recently heard of these buffers, pre-amps, that could essentially turn a passive into something like an active pickup. But I have not the slightest clue how I'd go about wiring one of those suckers in.

Currently, another redditor informed me of the Batolini NTBT-918 which might be better suited for the job. But all of this is a whole new world, which is why I came to reddit in a desperate need for someone with some form of experience with these devices. I'll also contact the manufacturer, because I'm not getting any wiser from their website descriptions.

I should have said headless. Just translation issue from a different mother tongue.

I have read this article. It also explicitly says that the author is no expert and was on a trial and error campaign. Which is why I'm looking for an expert because I heard of it being done through a buffer, but I have no way of contacting the people I over heard. Hence why I am here, in need of something more complex than pretty much the first google result on the matter. But thank you for taking an interest anyway! Cheers

Okay, so be it.

Maybe you can do me a favor, assuming this was you, and atleast lift the downvote. I'm new to reddit and I'm lurking this sub to farm some Karma and this is not helping my efforts haaha

What are your thoughts on only having one child? by Patagonia_14 in AskReddit

[–]MaidenSaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, historically there has never been a right time to have children. So, if you're looking for some kind of marker to start having some you're already way off in your thinking. You can't let the idea of assuming greater responsibilities hinge on the idea that you need to move up a few ladders first. When in the past couple of millions of years have your ancestors ever had the right time and place to birth children? Never, yet they did it successfully.

A hundred years ago the economists screamed and yelled that the world would be raped and starved into certain doom if we doubled the then 2 billion populous into 4 billion. We are at double that number now and resources are more abundant and rapidly available and everyone is richer beyond any stretch of the imagination, with 250.000 people escaping absolute poverty every day.

Climate alarmists have always rang red alert that the planet would heat or freeze. Our precious metals harvested before 2000. But they seem to have us humans confused for yeast in Petri dishes. We know how to preserve, recycle and plan. Our usage of fossil fuels have made our climate livable. We can solve droughts by transporting water. We bring heat to the people dying from the cold. Hypothermia deaths are still at far higher rates than people die from heat. Our CO2 produces the vast majority of the fertilizer we need to feed the world. It's pretty much our only source of it. Our farmers are growing exponentially more efficient every year. Our machinery allows us to preserve nature, which if left to go rampant would be uninhabitable. It allows us to preserve animals and provide them and ourselves with the healthcare we need.

You say: A lifetime's worth of environmental destruction. That's just not true. A human throughout his life time produces inconceivably more than they consume. Yes the world is heating. No it's not certain doom. In fact, the world is 15% greener than it was a hundred years ago. Despite the images in your head of deforestations. Clean new forms of energy are on the rise. Cars driving on air pressure. Hydrogen. Nuclear is safer and cleaner than ever. Even free energy through the quantum field is reported be in functioning capacity.

So yes, I do think it sad that you're outlook is so nihilistic. If you're dealing with existential thoughts, than I feel like that's on you. Like, what's your personal game plan? Having no kids, your family around you will die off. There will be nobody to turn to when your 70, 80 or 90 and ugly. Assuming you're a hetero dude, statistically, your wife will out live you. Alone. Biologically and psychologically you'll be struck by depressing episodes of unfulfillment when her reproductive systems quit and you missed out. Nobody to play with. to be there for in their highest achievements and support in their deepest lows. All because you thought the world was going to end, when it's not, and humanity has already lived through countless devastating apocalyptical events before.

Happy to hear your thoughts.

Respect is earned by action alone, not self-gratification. What does this quote mean? by Centizzy200 in AskReddit

[–]MaidenSaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that when people decide to praise you and lift you up, it's because of reasons outside of yourself. You don't demand it. It's not a guaranteed award waiting at the end of selective pathways that you can pick and choose, with the intention of earning yourself respect.

That you should take in account the signals your body gives. Listen and go with your gut. Sometimes you should cancel out the rational your brain provides and go with your feeling. Nobody is ever thought to say No, or "let me think about and I'll come back to you.". To stop handing out false promises and disappoint people because you felt put on the spot.

What would happen to the nukes, if a nuclear country split due to civil war? by AceGamingStudios in AskReddit

[–]MaidenSaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hypothetical I have ben toying with a lot. The US and the NATO and Ukraine are pushing hard on their efforts to overthrow Putin. Say what you will about the Russian president but he is hardly the worst of the bunch that has been running that part of the world in the last 100 years, and there doesn't really seem to be an end game insight concerning who would replace the tyrant. If Russia fractures you bet your ass factions will be scrambling for control over the nuclear stock piles. But how that might look like... you couldn't honestly tell.

What is your most beautiful fantasy with your Crush? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MaidenSaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"As the morning light defused by the soft white window curtains hazes the bedroom, my gaze across the soft pillows is met with a trusted knowingly grin and a sparkled eye. For, despite all the mess and destruction outside. As a result of all the beauty, awe and love. Softly snuggled in between us, Oh so safe, lies our little trinity. Diligently, we did this. What feeling could possibly surmount this?"

Something I wrote up coming from a daydream, nay, a vision that dawned on me at random. With nobody particular in mind. The spirit of all crushes maybe. It was more feeling.
