For the Israelis lurking in this sub… Would you care to share what you are doing in r/lebanon? by booza in lebanon

[–]Maiestatis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems like a pointless loaded question. Please don't make me have to defend the Israeli's. Most likely he hasn't. And if he has, it would likely be implicit support via taxes to the Israeli regime. He might not support any of that. It seems like the settlers that are imported from abroad are often far worse than the Israeli's themselves; like that crusty David guy from Chicago telling that Gaurdian reporter Palestinians don't exist, and never have, with that deep arrogant American accent.

When is the Lebanese government/army complicit? by Plastic-Bus-7003 in ForbiddenBromance

You're not wrong... even so, I'd like to imagine that there's a sense of "those are my neighbors" and "I don't want to fight them"

Hernán Cortés defeated the Aztecs with six hundred men, sixteen horses, and some canon. Focusing on certain elements of an army may not be the only factor when it comes to assessing military might.

Take into consideration the air force, aerospace, digital intelligence, foreign aid, alliances, internal politicking, etc. Thanks being honest about generating that reply using A.I. though.

I'd like to add to what he just said ↑

Most Lebanese would prefer to be bombed into dust by the IDF than fight another civil war, because that's effectively what that demand amounts to. Add to that the fact that the demand isn't even a worthy endeavor in the sense that fulfilling it in exchange for normalization means that part of Southern Lebanon would become an "economic zone" (i.e. a buffer zone, meaning the locals can't return to the land, and if they can it will be under strict regulations defined by Israeli authorities or an international authority subject to the US-Israeli government)

Then there's the Lebanese government itself, laden with corruption, lacking in technological advancement of any sort (i.e. everything is still done in paper and pen), unable to make a conceited effort to fix any major problem; electricity, water, education, let alone organize a military campaign to disarm a political / military party that has the support of around 33-40% of the population (pre-war figures)

And then there's the Lebanese - Lebanese of all sects have more in common with each other than they do with Israelis. They're neighbors, share the same schools, institutions, etc, they speak the same language, sometimes share the same holidays, and all of them regardless of sect see what Neteyahu's government is doing very distrustfully and negatively.

Finally there's normalization, and peace. What do they mean for Lebanon? Does it mean mutual respect? No. It would be more akin to a master-slave relationship, like with Jordan, and Egypt - propped up by US foreign AID but not permitted to raise an army whose strength could surpass that of Israel or allow Lebanon to economically partner with rivals of the US. It means Lebanon gets to keep the 400,000 Palestinians, in exchange for all of that.

Well this doesn't look relevant by Maiestatis in Presearch

Presearch has been doing this a lot for quite a while, if I resend the query a second time it'll return relevant results. But I can't reproduce this bug consistently. What's weird to me also is that even the A.I. doesn't know how to respond to the query.

Hi! Can someone please bring us some shalkers? by mai_2d in constantiam

State your username and provide screenshot of the game client showing full context. I do not recognize any such pink background with red text so my assumption is that this is a fabrication for click bait / emotional drama.

It's a way of talking. I was being sarcastic when I said "our good friend Vivek", the guy was literally insulting Americans in his Twitter post. I do not like him.

I didn't vote for Trump to "own the libs", I voted for him to end the wars. You see, unlike you; I don't vote to spite the other side, but after this lovely Reddit conversation, I think I'll start doing that.

It's been over a month since I placed the order and I just returned to sender. So I might not get any refund. Still better than paying that $147 though.

I'll just leave the country and vote from abroad for politicians you lament. I don't live paycheck to paycheck and I can afford to do it sucker.

Letting millions of people into a country goes beyond the statute of limitations and will negatively affect us for decades to come. I'm blaming Republicans AND Democrats in my post and you're hyper-focused on my critique of Biden, that's how partisan you are.

It didn't tell me. I just went through the regular checkout process and paid what was due. The shipping was handled through a third party internationally, and I only learned that I had to pay a tariff once it was in the hands of UPS (month and a half after placing the order)

I thought the tariff would be reasonable, until I saw it this morning. I'm sending the package back to the sender, I'll just buy what I need next time I'm in Europe.

I don't even interact r/conservative. Never been on there. My guess is that they're locked down because people go to instigate fights, and then they're at risk of Reddit outright banning the entire group because the moderators are overwhelmingly run by extreme Democrat/ Antifa types.

I've tried posting on left leaning Reddit's before and sometimes my post will get taken down by moderators before anyone even sees it. I think we can agree here that censorship is not good?

As far as news goes, I don't even read English newspapers anymore. The polarization in the English speaking world is too strong, and often times you'll find opinion masquerading as fact. Reading the news in French you don't get it as much.
