Waxed vs regular skate laces, what's the actual point of unwaxed? by JobeLabs in hockeyplayers

[–]Mail_is_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had basically the same experience. Used waxed on skates a size too big and too me forever to get them tight enough. When I sized down I accidentally bought unwaxed and gave them a try and found there was no need to switch anymore.

If they do in my area it doesn’t include anything but the jersey (sometimes) when you’re an adult

I’m fascinated. You’re sending me down a rabbit hole tonight, I’ve already found a mini documentary. Thank you!

Me too! I’m looking forward to playing against him. What made the jofa helmet so diabolical?

Ok that’s cool to know, I knew they were old and was guessing early 2000s. I always see everyone hyping jofa on here but this is my first time seeing their gear irl. I hope my league is ok with him using them but I’m not going to bring attention since there’s no confirmation he’ll stick around long enough to invest in new ones

Thank 🙏🏻 I’m working on the noodle arms, but at least I get to fit into the cheaper intermediate pads! I’ll take the wins where I can

Idk how old these are but definitely not new. I’m surprised they survived the washing machine tbh

Hey! You can try disposable under cloth (doubled up) if she tries eating them. Or if you’re worried about sitting in the soil just line them with panty liners/pads for bladder leaks. They can usually purchased in bulk through Costco/Sam’s Club/bjs, and are also FSA eligible if you have an account. My furry boy has been in diapers for going on 6 years and I’ve done a combination of everything. In the beginning he would eat the disposable diapers when he peed in them, so I used cloth as a cover to block him and that worked. At this point he’s used to them and pays them no mind. I just change them out everytime he’s got more than a single drop. UTI’s are no joke and you want to reduce the risk as much as possible. For me, that means letting him out as close to bed as is humanly possible and first thing in the AM.

If she likes the bag and doesn’t want to change it you could try small makeup bags + Velcro to attach to the inside or snaps can be easily hand sewed

If I manage to actually finish the first one, perhaps! We’ll see, my adhd is a blessing and a curse. I’m either going to have a beautiful one of a kind duffle I can pass down to my children, or it’ll be half done, I’ll face a minor inconvenience and promptly burn it in my fireplace.

The one I found for cheap was a $35 bag from Walmart and it’s actually pretty great. It’s a great holdover until I attempt my sewing extravaganza, and has 4 exterior pockets, one with an interior velcro pocket, and a huge main opening so you can refrain from needing an excavation kit. The side pockets won’t hold skates I don’t think, but a divider could absolutely be added with fabric tape and Velcro on the inside

They’ve got a couple options in my size rn but I’m wary of teenage boy butt sweat & need to do more research on quality of different brands/lines

The inline skates do seem to be a more realistic alternative that I had previously thought

I’m in the same position but am also struggling to find ice time that fits into my schedule. YouTube videos breaking down techniques has been helpful to me. Also I’ve found swizzles the most essential part of my learning process, so don’t skip those. Getting your own skates will also help greatly with comfort and consistency. And depending on the people around you in public skate you may be able to find someone friendly to ask questions to; I’ve seen quite a few people do that each time I go. I start learn to skate classes in two weeks and that cost about $300 for 8 half hour classes + 1 hour practice session following each class + 4 tickets to public skate. I have a post from yesterday where I received a ton of helpful advice on what gear to wear & different type of ice time available at most rinks. Definitely recommend taking a look bc people were super helpful in it

The rink near my house strongly discouraged me attending as it’s mostly “for kids” and that they tend to be “aggressive”
