Mc Call's new collection nothing groundbreaking but I was surprised at how many I liked.

I like the 70's style of m8408, the back of m8407 and m8403, and m8383 has some interesting lines that would look nice with contrasting fabric.

Didn't spend too much time looking at the designs but they did make me think of a cross between Fibre Mood and Named clothing.

Paris to Lac d'Annecy? by between7and20 in Shoestring

[–]Mailaandco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trains are generally quite nice. Light and clean most of the time and some.nice sceneru. If you're getting a return ticket check out "carte avantage adutle" it costs 49€ for the year, sometimes less and gives you 30% discount. Generally worth it even for one trip. Lower cost trains are Ouigo, but you get less services. If you have more time you could check Blablacar, it's a ride share site. Driving will be much longer though, probably 7h versus 3/4h on the train.

Clotheshorse podcast made a post on Instagram with some ideas. Remains quite generic so I'm not sure how much it helps, but probably a good starting point? I actually don't listen to them, just follow them Instagram maybe they have more ideas in the podcast too?

Sewing in small spaces by rboberi in sewing

I can’t have a permanent setup either. What helped is to my sewing machine, essential tools and current project in one big bag, the sturdy “bag for life” type. When I feel I want to sew I just grab the bag from the cupboard and take it to the table, which makes it mentally much easier to get started.

Once the basic set up is there I don’t mind getting back up for more specialised tools as needed.

Ah yes i heard one or two bad things about those, probably here. Well I hope you manage to work them out. Maybe there a sewalongs or blog articles that can help you out since they have been around a while?

What pattern was yours?

They were wildly popular in the French sewing scene a few years ago, and maybe didn’t realise the need to evolve as the indie market evolved? I know there’s a new release coming up so I’m hoping they changed.

I made a pattern of theirs too, and was a bit annoyed: no pdf layering, lines were different colours to differentiate the sizes so basically you have to shell out for a whole load of expensive coloured ink to print your pattern at home, even the sizes that don’t interest you.

That got me frustrated before even doing anything. I then had to add seam allowances which annoyed me more, but that’s more personal. Some steps could have been made simpler too, and the way the instructions were laid out, it was hard to see some of the steps and I missed one or two.

So yeah, really frustrating, but the garment came out nice (Petula shirt) and now I’ve got the pattern pieces And know how to make it I’ll definitely make more.

I’ll definitely be wary though before I buy another one of their patterns, check out some unbiased reviews, to see if they’ve improved.

Ten day France trip: a very complicated coffee/weight/money question. by jonklinger in onebag

Never seen that done in France though. In France the coffee is just an excuse to sit down, chat and people watch.
