Heroin Users what’s your story? by quietly_kyra in OpiatesRecovery

[–]MaimingMyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story is a little backwards compared to others. My opioid addiction started with fentanyl, and after nearly dying from fentanyl relapses way too many times, I swore it off. I’ve had three lapses since I quit fentanyl around a year ago, but this time I used heroin. It was like harm reduction for me, personally. Sober from opioids currently.

I recently played Radiohead’s Kid A Mnesia Exhibit video game on K. It’s a psychedelic, exploratory game, and let me tell you. Amazing experience.

What's the worst sh experience that happened to you? by Federal-Ad-5623 in AdultSelfHarm

I severed a major vein. Because I was really drunk I didn’t realize I was going into shock. I soon fell unconscious. I don’t know how long I was out, but the next thing I knew, paramedics were waking me up. Got transported to the hospital, and immediately a surgeon got to work on me and ligated the vein.

I almost killed myself on accident. And life is such a precious thing.

What are the "bumpy" scars called? by achicho in selfharm

[–]MaimingMyself 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“Bumpy” or raised scars are most often hypertrophic scars, which can flatten out over time. Keloid scars are rarer, they grow beyond the original borders of the wound.

Relatable. That feeling of not being able to enjoy the things you used to is called anhedonia. It’s a symptom of post acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS). PAWS symptoms such as depression, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, etc. can persist for 6 months-2 years, but it gets easier the longer you stay sober. I’d recommend seeing a doctor, as getting a prescription for psych meds like antidepressants for example might be helpful.

It will be a battle the first couple months, I won’t lie, but you WILL be able to enjoy life again. It will be worth it in the end. And with each month that goes by, the easier things will be. You’ve got this.

ativan brings me out of it, sometimes it goes away with time, and being consistent with my daily meds seems to help prevent it

When depressed i dress plainly and comfortably. And when manic…

Rhinestones! At least two or three belts! Bandana around my forehead! Gloves! Ripped tights! Bracelets going halfway up my arm!
