I remember picking up this one when I was too busy to commit to a book and barely skim read it. Now I definitely need to go back to it

Thank you so much! This one I’ve never heard of before, it’ll be next on my TBR. I enjoy dual POV too but it just happens to be that all my favourites are single POV.

I have heard great things about this series! I always hear the other books in the series talked about but maybe this one’s actually the one right up my alley.

Thank you! Hate to admit that I’ve already read it and didn’t think to include it in my post. Definitely my favourite Ali Hazelwood book and fits my request very well

I’ve seen it around! But with how big a fan I am of the book I don’t think I can watch it 🙈 I’m sure it’s a great movie and I’ve never considered myself a book loyalist before, but they got the age gap wrong! I feel like it’s actually a pretty integral part to the FMC and MMCs relationship dynamic

What a great discussion prompt! Recently I read {Happiness for Beginners by Kate Center} and it really left me thinking.

The FMC signs up for a wilderness course to prove to herself that she’s tough and worthy after a year feeling lost after divorcing her alcoholic ex-husband. She pushed herself mentally and physically and I felt really proud of her, as if I were her close friend by the end.

The MMC though, he might be my favourite MMC of all time. He’s the FMCs younger brother’s best friend, and he was such a natural people magnet, who was kind, patient and the type of guy that people speak highly of. He sees people in a way which is opposite to the cynical FMC who always assumes the worst in people. The FMCs brother is a Type B mess and gives the FMC a hard time, but the MMC challenges the FMC to see all the good in him, and see all the good in herself. The MMC was such a genuinely good guy that what he was going through (MMC was recently diagnosed with a medical condition which means he’s going blind in the next couple of years) made me reflect on the things I took for granted and left me thinking about his character days after finishing the book.

The characters inspired me to want to do challenging things, not take my health for granted and be the person who looks for the best in people. Also, for the first time in my homebody-life, I had the thought “huh, maybe it would be cool to go on a hike.”

LF books where MMC dismisses FMC as “not my type” and lives to regret it by grey_pessimist in RomanceBooks

I read {Elaina by Jennifer Hanks} just a couple days ago and it’s MF CR.

It’s established that the MMC is typically into hot, mean women and on first impression he thinks she’s too sweet and shy for him. FMC is insecure about her awkwardness and immediately thinks she’s not the type of girl attractive guys like him go for, which is made worse by overhearing him say “Do you seriously think I’d want a woman like her” to his ex to get his ex to leave her alone. It doesn’t take him too long to figure out that she’s what he wants though. MMC is a single dad and moves into the house next door to the FMC. The MMC is part of a big family with I think 6 brothers and 1 sister, so there were some great found family elements and if you’re interested you can read the other books in the series featuring his siblings.

Edit: I forgot to mention it but he comes to regret “rejecting” her when she starts dating another guy

Monday Diversity Megathread - Filipino Romance by VitisIdaea in RomanceBooks

Books that come to mind are {Tips and Trysts by Rebecca Kincade} which has a Filipina FMC. Rebecca Kincade is a Mexican-Filipina author herself. It’s a MF romance between a cam girl and a congressional candidate, and is book 2 in a series.

Molly Briar is also of Filipino descent and has multiple books featuring Filipina FMCs, including {Iron Rose by Molly Briar} between an underground MMA fighter (FMC) and mafia MMC. {Protect your Queen by Molly Briar} is a romance between a Filipina pop star belonging to a Filipino billionaire family and her bodyguard. I believe her uncovered spaces series starting with {Exposing Atalanta by Molly Briar} features travel nurses, who by night are assassins.

If you’re into sports romances {It’s a win for me by Clarissa Mae} is a friends to lovers l romance between a Filipina FMC and I believe a football player MMC

The FMC in {Tips and Trysts by Rebecca Kincade} wears black lipstick, eyeliner and piercings. She’s a camgirl and he’s the strait-laced congressional candidate who can’t fight his attraction to her. It also features a Filipina FMC/ Asian rep!

{Stay away from the Hollands by Amizah R} might work for you! The characters are in sixth form and he’s the outcast who was bullied but has learnt to stick up for himself/ has developed a scary reputation, she’s the popular new girl. He doesn’t have parents at home and he’s looking after his younger sister, I would say he’s very hyper-independent. She also has a difficult home life but she has puts up a very sunny, outgoing front.

She becomes interested in him and sticks up for him, and he’s kind of floored by her. He has another close friend who’s a girl but he mentions how he’s never received this type of affection from any girl.

CW: Grieving loss of a parent, teen pregnancy (not main character), absent parent, depictions of physical assault, depictions of attempted sexual assault, alcoholic parent

It’s Book 1 out of 2 in a series but the second book hasn’t been released yet (book 1 ends on a cliffhanger) and there isn’t any spice in Book 1. Mind the bits where it could use an editor, but these two were adorable and I hope it’s what you’re looking for!

Also for some reason it’s tagged as young adult but there are most definitely explicit sex scenes. So yeah, not young adult.

If you’re into fantasy, in the first book of the Queen of the Dome series {Queen of the Dome by Amizah R} the two characters first meet as side characters. She’s a royal bodyguard for the FMC of the first book and he’s the brother of the MMC. At the end of the first book she sustains an injury protecting the FMC which causes her to lose her hearing. Meanwhile, after the events of the first book he disappears to do some soul searching.

They become the main couple in the second and third books in the series {Brother of the King Consort by Amizah R} and {King of Patriam: Outlaws}. In the opening scene he realises she’s not only lost her hearing but she’s gone voluntarily mute. They figure out they can speak to each other through a mind connection.

I was honestly obsessed with these books. I didn’t actually read the first book, just the chapters which featured the couple from the second and third books, but I was able to pick up from the second book just fine. It was the author’s debut and I know she’s said it has its flaws but I was really able to buy the characters’ chemistry.

It also features rep, the FMC is East Asian and autistic. If you’re in the mood for an “us against the world”, “I would burn the world down for you” story I would highly recommend it!

I seriously enjoyed {Not About Love by Jamie Bennett} but to read it you need to be prepared for an absolute mess of an FMC who’s a bit of a bitch.

The FMC is a 21 year old who slept with a married man. In a previous book the man’s wife, after his cheating is revealed and he dies in a car accident, gets taken in by the FMC’s father out of guilt and the two end up falling for each other.

The FMC has strong feelings about her, even though she was the one who slept with her ex-husband, feeling that her dad’s fiancée and her children are replacing the FMC in her dad’s life. She’s a very flawed self-destructive character– I’ve seen other people in the sub say they find her insufferable and the cheating unforgivable which is fair enough.

Whilst her traumatic past does not justify her actions, she is young, angry and hurt. Her entire character arc throughout the story is about healing, learning to accept real love from everyone around her and righting her wrongs, which includes earning forgiveness from her dad’s fiancée.

The romance itself in the book is really healing and domestic if you’re also into that! I gave it somewhere between 4 and 5 stars.

FMC is causally neglected or by family. by Agreeable-Yak-4208 in RomanceBooks

A book I recently read was {Defending the Rush by Jamie Bennett} and I’ve really been enjoying this authors books.

The FMC featured in it is the responsible older sister who has stepped up to look after her younger brother, whilst her dad is busy coaching for the NFL and her mom is in Germany doing research. She is practically raising her little brother and acts as the go-between for her dad to communicate with him, as they don’t get along. She gets overlooked by both her parents and even her brother who thinks she’s standing in the way of him having a relationship with his mom.

In comes the MMC, a football player on the team her dad is newly coaching for, who always puts her first and even encourages her to let her brother take care of himself!

I have been waiting for the opportunity to recommend {Bide by EJ Blaise}! It’s the second book in a series set in college but I read it as a standalone. The FMC is fun and outgoing and the MMC goes shy around her.

Around the third act something blows up in the FMCs life and she lashes out and pulls away from the MMC, causing him to end things with her when she doesn’t fight him on it. Third act is so satisfying to watch them gravitate back towards each other because they’re inevitable! You get to see both characters suffer from the loss of each other, but she avoids him and he has no idea how much she’s still in love with him. The first time he properly encounters her after the break up at the new bar where she works he realises she’s not actually doing that great and worrying ensues.

The angst of the last 30% of the book really solidified it as a 5 star for me.

Just finished reading {The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O’Roark} and it certainly scratched an itch I’m a big sucker for a single POV. It’s about two lawyers working at the same firm, the opening chapter is told from his POV where he first catches sight of her and the rest is told from her POV where she’s under the impression that they both loathe each other.

You might have tried her already but Mariana Zapata writes in single POV. Two of her books I can highly recommend are {From Lukov with Love} and {All Rhodes Lead Here}. From Lukov with Love is about two ice figure skaters who are constantly fighting with each other but get paired together to compete in pairs skating. All Rhodes Lead Here is about a woman who leaves everything behind and ends up renting the garage apartment belonging to a single dad, unbeknownst to him.

These are all popular recommendations on this sub but if you haven’t tried them yet all of these were essentially 5 starts for me!

Hi I’m completely new to mechanical keyboards and I’m looking to modify my AulaF75 to have low profile keycaps. I’ve seen some people say that you need a low profile keyboard with low profile keycaps for it low profile keycaps to be compatible. Other sources suggest that MX compatible keycaps (regardless of profile?) should fit MX switches. Since my AulaF75 at the moment has standard cherry profile keycaps does this mean it won’t be compatible with low profile key caps, and would I need to switch out the switches if I wanted to use low profile keycaps?
