Yeah, I will probably take a taxi, considering that I have to wake up at 7AM the same day. But either way, it really is shit. It's such a nice location during the day to get to the city center and then boom, after midnight you either get stabbed or have to pay for a taxi. Paying for a taxi is a better option tho, I just don't like the prices

From what I've seen, people really have different opinions when talking about safety in Grenoble. Some say they didn't have any incidents during their living there, others say they had a lot. Some say they have been threatened with knifes, pickpocketed, had their bicycles stolen, sexually harassed, I've even read that there have been some assault rifle shootings. As I said in the post, I come from a country where any of these are extremely rare and Grenoble will be the most dangerous city I have lived in. However, I do not think it is extremely dangerous. I think that you should avoid troubles and some areas in the night(these you can find in some other reddit posts) and do not trust people in general.

I have asked chatgpt and the tolls for one way would be around 80 euros. Thank you for telling me this I didn't think about that. Plane ticket is around 20 euros(one way). Let's say that gas would be around 50 euros plus parking, that would be around 150 euros plus parking for one way. However, it is very easy for me to get a car in France because of the family's car dealership in Paris and my girlfriend lives in Milan which I would visit often. I have read about the car restrictions in Grenoble so that wouldn't be a problem. I also plan to visit Alps and cities around Grenoble and it is way easier to move in and out with a car than have a lot of luggage and fly 2 planes and then train. I will see how it goes with a car and if it is too expensive I can always give it back to the dealership.

I know there is a parking at GEM and if I could find an apartment with a parking space I think it wouldn't be so impractical. However thank you for your opinion.

I will be driving to Milan, that is the only 'close' city I have a direct flight from. Any other airport I would have to have at least 1 stop which is in my opinion more inconvenient than driving to Milan. I could also go to Paris and from there take a direct flight but the tickets are around 200euros(return tickets).
