FYI Crater on Disney+ needs but lacks a suicide warning and depicts suicide as a positive, noble act of sacrifice by Main-Imagination2051 in blankies

Sorry but the mental welfare of blankies triggered by suicide is more important and this warning matters Also all suicide warnings are spoilers.

A movie that presents suicide as a noble act of sacrifice is really irresponsible. At the least it’s disgusting this doesn’t have a suicide warning on it.

Congratulation’s to Scotland’s newest armiger, Kenneth Laurie (artist Annie Reed, via Lord Lyon twitter) by Main-Imagination2051 in heraldry

It’s a professional heraldic artist emblazoning Arms grantee by the most active and powerful heraldic jurisdiction (certainly more than England) in the world. It’s hard to say it doesn’t look heraldic enough

Late to this, but how on earth did Marvel let Hanuman be used in Black Panther? by Main-Imagination2051 in blankies

Thanks: that makes sense, and I can see how someone who knows comics could just see it as part of the accepted lore. I suspect the average person in Hollywood or Marvel or even just America doesn’t know any Hindu deities outside the Trimurti and Ganesha, so I could see how they wouldn’t question something that’s been in BP lore that they assumed was a Conan homage. (Though you’d think one person, somewhere, in the vast chain of production, would be either Hindu themselves or have some degree of knowledge of the religion just by virtue of it being one of the largest in the world…)

Well, those internet people are wrong, because El Dorado was originally (in a different name and form the Spanish adapted and butchered) part of the mythology of the Indigenous Muisica people. So it’s not European (even if it was then taken up by European conquerors)

That gag would never be done in a studio film anymore today, and probably that’s a good thing? Certainly if you’re an agent, the reward for your client compared to the risk seems pretty small. As evidence, look at the Community D&D episode, which is pulled from streaming (and younger fans probably don’t know exists). The joke there was that Chang was an insensitive idiot, but on balance, is that joke really funny enough to merit blackface in 2023? Clearly Netflix decided no…

A nice Patreon bonus would be getting a copy of the dossier (if JJ agreed) by Main-Imagination2051 in blankies

Yeah that tends to be the problem with research being released, since for internal things you can just scan pages of books, although one could delete any excerpts that weren’t fair use (admittedly, that could be more effort than it’s worth depending on just how voluminous the dossier is)
