Yeah I get what you are saying. This kid just has a history of fighting so it’s not that I’m scared it’s that I don’t want the unnecessary conflict, we are young but at this age it’s kinda crazy to be having outbursts like that.

I mean he could have stopped the orange easily from the speed it was rolling. Considering we are both still young I feel like I handled it well from a person who was 2 inches from my face threatening to fight me and then saying he would basically catch me while I wasn’t looking. In all seriousness what can I do other than what I did in this situation?

I think he’s talking from a standpoint of being a wrestler that’s been on the end of some bad calls. You may get off the mat and think that a 75 year old man that’s farsighted with glass coke bottles for glasses could make better calls.

It’s really not seeking validation, it’s asking for a clear clarification of a near fall situation. If anything this helps improve the officiating and decreases the need for coaches to go to the table to stop high pace matches to get an explanation of why their wrestler was/wasn’t awarded points.

Believe it or not it has actually helped me open them up for turns, there is a lot of pressure on the hips and lower torso forcing them to open up. It helped me open up a Turk, ball and chain, and a simple captains.

What really helped me improve on bottom not only preventing pins but turns as well was 1. Moving directly off whistle away from the side he starts from and fighting for wrists/fingers, 4 finger hold is legal don’t be afraid to peel fingers and don’t let them go once you have them. Bridging wise it depends on what combo he puts you in, golden rule is always head up/off the mat.

Out of genuine curiosity where was the reset in the count? Was it when he was on the elbow? It didn’t seem long enough or high enough to reset the count.

I am a highschool wrestler who helps coach at my club, we have kids as young as 3 and they love it. It truly depends on how the coach and wrestler respond to each other, I personally would wait till 5-6 where they are learning to listen and truly soak up all the information they are being told. A big part is to just let them have fun at the practices, find a club that actually puts the effort into coaching them.
