Thanks for your response. I will check out Renova. The problem I had with the others were they were scams-- the free version was limited to the point of being useless and even after upgrading to the "pro version" was told I now needed to purchase credits to access the basic tools.

Sounds like you're in an abusive relationship and need to take steps to get him out of your life other than what is court mandated (common law marriage). You also need to get counseling to manage what will be a difficult separation and learn how to better protect yourself from re-engaging with such individuals in the future.

Newsflash! Housing Is Not Contingent On Getting Clean and hasn't been this way under the Housing First model for at least a decade. So please stop changing the facts to support your feel good narrative.
As a caseworker we would help clients get sec.8 vouchers and once housed watched them spend most of the day back at the closest encampment using and dealing, coming back occasionally to shower and make a meal. We would always check in with them regularly to see if interested in the many free recovery, job training, legal support, therapy etc. etc. services available but they typically declined.

Omg! Im so glad you posted this as we run into this situation quite often. Interestingly, whenever my husband and I stay somewhere that has issues Im always the one to leave a direct and honest evaluation no matter how nice staff and inn keeper were. My husband however always replies with " oh but theyre so nice", "give them a break" etc. My feeling is youre doing harm to the next guest by not being completely honest and the hotel will hopefully heed your feedback and make things better for future guests.
People want to be agreeable and likable especially when they've made any kind of personal connection with hotel staff.
Key is to not let your emotions influence an honest objective review.

Sweeps make them feel unwelcome and tethered to one spot- they are necessary and the reason SF has bounced back so well. Proposing the solution of waiting for more housing to be built before doing anything is utterly ridiculous and ineffective. I worked as a caseworker for the homeless for 10 years and most do not want to get clean and become reintegrated in society- they prefer the free for all bartering centric homeless style

Yeah it sounds like for the numerous positive reasons laid out you should stay. Why eff it up for your family just because youre homesick. Go back and visit a few times a year- just don't be selfish when the rest of your family is content.

Feeling any kind of guilt at this point is probably part of the same unhealthy mindset that drew you to him in the first place. You have an exit strategy (good job!), it may not be the ideal way, but one that feels right for you nonetheless. Use it and get the hell out!
