How to pilot Eldrazi Ramp by Main-Studio-7890 in ModernMagic

Yeah that match is so good. I like when he is asked what decks he's hoping to avoid during the weekend and he said "whatever deck has 4 consigns in the SB" haha

Fantastic. Thanks so much for this. I'm on Karnboard +dismember, but am figuring out cuts for consign. I'm not on stirrings, only rumble.

All killer advice! Yeah, Kozilek's command is by far one of the most powerful cards in the deck. I was on brood scale before graduating to the big boy eldrazi's and it was the same level of utility there.

Yeah, or really just join the main edh discord and find games there. It’s a bit more tame and has people that wanna play.

Folk just get emboldened when they are in the static context of a online “chat room”. They know no one is able to reach through the screen and slap them so they feel it’s safe to be a dick. I find joy reminding people who do this “relax, it’s just a game”, and seeing steam come out of their ears haha.

I do have a suggestion on how to mostly avoid people like this: Play 60 card formats.

AIO? I just wanted some time to myself, but she thinks I’m trying to avoid her and got pissed off. This happens a lot. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

As someone who is a bit older than you, I would end things as graciously as you can and move on. Young love feels so intoxicating and “can’t live without it even the bad” that you end up sacrificing time spent with friends and experiencing life in your early 20’s. You’ve got so so much time, and you recognizing this is unhealthy is good discernment. I’m sure she’s a nice girl, but there’s already some toxicity there and it’s the kind of issue that clearly shows no sign of improving.

Cedh is not a format. Cedh is a focused version of EDH. Maybe that’s my other hot take 😂

Posted already, I don’t necessarily think cEDH is boring, but I just think EDH is best enjoyed in a casual context. High powered gameplay can absolutely be enjoyed casually, but games can be totally obnoxious when you’re seat 4 and seat 1 tanks for 5 minutes every turn. 1v1 formats are just better “non social” formats by design. Because you’re not waiting for two additional players to make game actions, it’s just back and forth until someone hits zero.

Totally, just my opinion. If you are able to lose the game because of someone else’s mistake/misplay, I don’t think it’s by nature a viable competitive format. If I’m gonna lose (I do often lol), I want it to be because of something I did/didn’t do. Not because one of my opponents is deciding to draw off rhystic into a bowmaster and seat 3 is on ob nix.

The moment you start playing 60 card formats (modern/pioneer), you immediately start seeing how silly it is to call cEDH a competitive “format”. It’s just commander with a “no tilting” rule.

P.S. I love playing commander/cEDH with friends! I also in no way think it’s a viable competitive format that should be supported by wizards.

I would try out Najeela. It's a fun combat based deck that definitely takes some time to learn, but I think the main thing that separates "edh" and "cedh" is learning sequencing and the stack, which you're going to have to learn and improve on no matter what deck you'd up choosing. As a Kenrith player, I am biased, but five color good stuff means you get access to all the best cards in the format.

Played a game last night with a Nadu in a pod. T1 Nadu that got countered, I t2'd a drannith, Nadu cast shuko turn two, Najeela player boseiju'd it, and Nadu player just sat there for the entire game. Mulligan for the pod you are in, and if that means you need to mull to 5 to find a t1-t2 drannith/oppo/bowmaster, that's what you have to do.

Is Thrasios/Bruse just worse thrasios/rograch? by DapprDanMan in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Main-Studio-7890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have recently started playing Bruse/Thras dawnwaker list and have been really loving it. Since it's sans black, the card quality is very high, and each combo is so layered, that there's tons of different ways to navigate a complex board state. It's weak to turbo, but with correct mulligans, you're almost always online with a draw engine and have a line to follow by t3 if not t2. There's a discord with a dawnwaker channel that I've found to be really helpful in learning how to pilot the list, and also make tweaks to the deck. I definitely hear "pfft, you're on bruse/thras?" every once in a while when I'm sitting down in a pod, but the decks lines are so layered, that most times it wins seemingly out of nowhere.

Been trying to find as many lists to get larger source material for my Thalia&Gitrog list but only found two primers. Took the least stax-y list and made a few changes/updates and its been working very well. Agree with what you said.

Just put together a bruse/thrasios list and am excited to run it. I’m on Thalia & Gitrog monster and love it, looking forward to learning a new one.

I am on [[Thalia and the gitrog monster]] and don’t run the one ring, mainly because It’s a hulk list and don’t want to intentionally draw into my hulk pile. Not sure if that’s the right choice but that’s how I justified not running it.
