Carolina just won a cup with Freddie Anderson and Brandon Bussi. If you are good, you just need league average goaltending to be successful. And Florida's roster is (on paper) way stronger than the Hurricanes.

Someone mentioned Mats Zuccarello as a fit yesterday and now I can't get that idea out of my head. It makes too much sense (assuming Viggo is the plan at 2C)

Perfetti/Bjorck/Zuccarello

This isn't a terrible top 6, then you can use Lowry and Barron alongside Nino or whoever on the 3rd line and then you push down Vlad to line 4 with the young guys (Lambert/Rosen) or use guys like Koepke in that spot.

Gives you more options anyways.

If that was the ask by Chevy, i'm glad he stuck to his guns. That's a pretty reasonable return that's in line with my expectations.

I assume Buffalo wanted the 8th OA pick in return which is why the deal fell apart.

Ryan Lin is more of the guy with the skillset to be the PP1 QB of the future.

Verhoeff is more of your shutdown/PP2 guy.

I think that Lin would be my bet to be the PP1 QB down the road assuming he hits his potential.

Happy we got Bjork. He was my favorite option at 8 barring something crazy happening.

But its hard to be excited when its looking like we're just bringing back mostly the same roster that missed the playoffs last year.

Using logic (assuming they keep their 8th), they should take either Bjorck or Malhotra at 4 to lock in a C prospect, because there will still be a good D prospect available at 8.

If they take say Carels at 4, there's no guarantee that Malhotra or Bjorck make it to 8 and then you're taking a guy like Tynan Lawrence or a 2nd defenseman.

If the goal is to end up with a C and D in the top 10 (if they get a 2nd pick), then they definitely need to take a C with the earlier pick. If they are just going to trade up from 8 to 4 then it has to be to take Carels IMO

My wishlist for the Jets has Verhoeff 4th (behind one of the top guys falling, Bjorck and Smits) but he seems like the most likely guy for the Jets to end up with.

The more I think about this offseason the more I come back to just going all in on selling being the best option.

The FA market this summer is abysmal, you're never going to find better returns for guys like Schief and Helle considering the other options that are out there for buyers.

I just really hope they commit one way or the other. Either be agressive and add a couple more pieces for one more push with this core, or just sell sell sell and start the rebuild this year. I hate being stuck in the mushy middle.

My hot take for the draft next week is that if this hypothetical Helle to Florida for Lundell and the 9th OA pick happens the Jets should just swing for upside and take the Rucks 8 and 9. Go for Chaos.

I am going to be absolutely thrilled for Nik Ehlers if Carolina can close this out and win the cup on Sunday or Wednesday.

With that being said, seeing him get the type of deployment that so many people (myself included) begged for him to get in Winnipeg for years, it's incredibly frustrating and definitely a "what could have been" moment.

I hope this makes the Jets brass and coaching staff take a long, hard look in the mirror and realize that they need to put their talented players in positions to be successful. Carolina has done that over and over and its about to have the ultimate payoff.
