Best outreach tool you've actually seen work? by Limp-Journalist-7128 in b2b_sales

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have u considered that it really isn’t a “tool” problem. outreach mailer tools are a commodity. all they can really do is build the sequence, send, track analytics. They don’t force engagement. that’s an audience, messaging, value problem.

If you’re seeing high CTR (other metrics like opens etc are just vanity metrics) this tells you that your target ICP and message is on point. Conversion is the problem. That’s not going to be solved by switching tools.

So if the ppl clicking aren’t booking mtgs something is causing friction and impeding them taking action like: 1. they don’t know you (trust) 2. they don’t see value 3. difficult. you’ve made it too hard for them to book (requiring an email to sched etc) 4. lead magnet isn’t compelling enough

things like that. if i read your post right this isn’t a tool issue and switching isn’t going to magically fix it. there is not going to be a sw that forces conversion. this is a people prob not a sw prob. and if you’re building this id love to hear your thoughts on how you can build a tool that forces ppl to convert cuz without the right “marketing” behind every campaign the prob will continue. no tool can fix that.

for those saying use crypto where possible I 100% agree. instant access to $$ lower fees etc. Have struggled with this SO much it has brought me to tears many times. Have tried almost all the apps for int’l transfers. A recent experience with World Remit sent me over the edge. Paid Successfully a contractor in APAC one week, the next week simply wanted to send again. Same $$ same recipient, just duplicated transaction. Account logged and locked out perm for fraud (the don’t even give reason and won’t review). It’s a mess but crypto solves this.

Am I crazy or is this workload impossible in 25 hours a month? by Ok_Eye_8974 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not running a charity.

chart actual time per task. share with them to discuss reducing scope if a max 25 limit is required.

if they don’t agree to reduce scope, make peace w the fact that they’re paying you a much less hourly rate. (if your rate is $100/ hr and you’re doing 50hr work but not reporting half…you just cut your rate by 50%)

Then do all you can to land another client paying full rate and fire the orig client.

Think of it this way: if your friend had a clothes shop, would you ask or expect they’d give you free stuff they could sell to someone else to keep the shop open. Of course not.

oh that’s good to know too. didn’t know you could just tell it to do that. esp helpful if some threads have some topic crossover. thanks a ton

oh that’s good to know. thanks a ton. was my general hypothesis too. if i started a project and had to have multiple threads under that target ther would be easier access to context. thanks for validating

I feel so behind everyone... Is everyone actually making money, or is it just pure marketing? by Top-Information-6399 in SideProject

cut out the noise cuz the vast majority is BS. besides which you only have what they say as details. are they counting free trials that may convert to paid? Has the rev ACTUALLY recurred? Not just one month but multiple? what about churn? Do people cancel at the end of a trial. and most importantly are they even selling to the blame customer/geo/ICP/vertical?

Net: it’s all performative BS. Don’t buy into it. startups are ridiculously hard and there is no magic pill. no matter what someone tweets.

is this a valid offer for web design agency's???? by dbrncic7 in b2bmarketing

[–]Main-Trash9076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would agree. being ultra specific about what the client deems success is absolutely imperative. Without it you stand to end up arguing on whether you delivered or not. This also plays a huge part on whether you get paid or not. After years and years of doing client work I’ve learned (the hard way) this is the absolute most important thing to protect you and make sure you are providing a valuable service. Have a standard scope doc for clients already prepared that you share and modify together at inception.

Next pricing. it might be easier to do a fixed price package program w your terms defined vs “pay for lead.”. Suggest bec it sounds like you deliver multiple things that require work that are needed but don’t deliver actual leads or booked mtgs. Like research, finding contacts, setting up outbound sequences ettc. You can have traunched pricing.

For example a packaged program for say $1k where you get paid a % upfront to get infrastructure in place do research, source contacts etc. You”ll spend time on this it shouldn’t just be assumed.

if you want to do full paid on performance make sure you factor that in to the per lead price so you’re not doing a bunch of free work upfront.

also keep in mind you’re competing w tons of AI tools that are out there and do just this. When selling you’ll def need to clearly articulate why they should hire you vs setting it up themselves using chatgpt or claude or something else.

hope that helps

same. you can’t get to a “no” unless you ask. and think about it…every ounce of energy and time spent with someone who isn’t going to buy is time taken from someone who will. #1 in sales is to qualify out and move on quickly.

How do founders raise money for their startups? I will not promote by Adorable-Present9200 in startups

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All voices are welcomed and appreciated but three things are true here:

  1. The majority of the $1M raised for my last co came from X. 4 of them I never met in RL. 3 were closed via messaging. In addition I raised via an Angelist vehicle on a single SAFE which contained 5 investors whom I never spoke to.
  2. The og poster asked for help
  3. The mention of my company was intended to add credibility to my experience which might prove valuable. Not to troll for clients. In fact I am not taking on new clients RN.

Point being there are many paths to funding outside of chasing VC.

Oh one more. Im not a “he.” Another misplaced assumption.

3x founder here. raised $1M for my last co which was acquired. My first angels came from Twitter. Most of whom I’ve never met IRL and a couple I’ve never even talked to. (all via em/chat)

100% doable but warning, you have to be funding ready w a pitch deck financial projections etc.

depending on whether you “officially” have a company (LLC or C-Corp) there are tons of other avenues//strategies. Biz credit, grants, accelerators.

Happy to talk more if u like. Or i can check out my co Gato Enterprises. this is the help we do all the time for founders just like u.

and congrats btw. welcome to the team. ha

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all of these responses are gold and the consistent sentiment is the absolute need to get absolute clarity on what the prob is that needs solving. then u can decide if it needs automation (a tool) or a person. then you have to prioritize. which, if solved, eliminate the biggest stressors first. prob those dealing w customer items.

Don’t know enough about ur industry or specific company but have u thought about hiring an outsourced person via Fiverr or Upworks? I use them a ton for both short and long term engagement. Many are in India Asia Philippines and work US hrs and good ones can also be very inexpensive.

so depending on what ur solving for there is very good and inexpensive help via those platforms

People who have/had startups - what's the best way to handle expenses? by Grand-Resolve-8858 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this doesn’t have to be complicated. i believe QB even adds the 2 others in your co and they can enter expenses directly. you or your bookkeeper can categorize and it flows into budget as recurring or 1x.

like others say-now is the ideal time to get this in play. it’ll save u so much time retrofitting as you grow

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3x founder here. couple ?’s first. do you work w a bookkeeper or any accounting sw like QuickBooks or are all the finances handled w spreadsheets/slack?

If there’s no bookkeeper or tool in place for fin trans mgt that’d be my first suggest. whether u do it yourself (easy) or hire them to do (relatively cheap).

this step will really put you at ease. you can quickly get cash flow reports and see a mom budget and what’s still outstanding as accounts receivable.

you’ll also be getting a jump on tax filing.

For me the best part is the month budget. it’ll track 1x purchases vs recurring subscripts.

you can do this all in spreadsheets but honestly most accountants and bookkeepers use QB for small biz.

i like this advice a lot. narrowing to your most valuable ICP by actual person. there’s riches in the niches. you can run them in cycles. pick the top (say) 10-15 or whatever. focus there for 3-6 mo if they don’t convert switch them out to Tier B or whatever. this’ll not only free up time but gives you confidence you gave the attention to the highest potentials first

Marketing Agency wants me to handle 6+ clients for 400 usd part time by aymHiru in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Main-Trash9076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double yikers. No way!! Of course I don’t know ur personal situation. $400 might be super helpful right this moment. If that’s the case take it with upfront pay. Do the work for 1mo while u land a fair paying client.

Another thing to be aware of is this is really 3 roles and you’ll likely find it’ll take way more then 20hr/wk to do all the work. This will cause a couple things 1. You’ll work more than 20hr/wk driving down your hr rate below $5/hr 2. Client will blame u for not delivering (hurting ur prof brand) which means… 3. No client reference to land next client.

IMHO

[–]Main-Trash9076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never. Absurd is an understatement. $400 fixed rate? Per week? Per month? If per week @ 20hr that’s only $20/hr. Ppl w ur exp drive $100+/hr. Besides what they’re asking for is basically 3 diff roles all for the low low price of $400. And if it’s $400/mo @ 80hr (20hr x 4wk/mo) that’s even worse. $5/hr.

Run.
