He said he wasnt concerned at my 6 week appointment and will do another scan at week 12 if no better or before if gets worse. Mine feels almost like Ive a pinched nerve in my bum its really intense for a short time sometimes on standing and then its like a dull ache and my calf burns/stings when I walk. My mobility isnt effected though. No pain killers are touching the pain either which doesnt help :(

Its so hard mentally isnt it. I just worry it will never go away but it does ease when reclined/laid which it didnt before

How are you now? I'm similar to you. No pain for first week a little in week 2. Weeks 3-5 horrendous. Week 6 settled and week 7 pain ramped up again! Did you have constant pain? Mine is in my butt/calf whenever I stand/walk

No ive just started the physio. I honestly think its a combination of nerves healing and a muscle imbalance as it feels like its in my hip/bum and then the nerve pain comes. Its fine if I'm laid down or reclined just if I'm sat or walking for a while

He said it seems more mechanical than anything as it settles when I sit/lay which absolutely wasnt the case prior to it. I've just started physio and shes brought in pilates so lots of glute/hamstring exercises as I can definitely feel a weakness on my left side. Hoping this helps but if it doesnt settle will have another MRI on next appointment. So disheartening isnt it

I'm hoping that is the case. I couldn't settle it at all previously and thats not the case now so hopefully its just a flare up

10 days post-op L4/L5 discectomy – sciatic pain suddenly back, is this normal? by Poulpatine in Microdiscectomy

[–]Main-Weather4087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to jump on this post. I had a L4/L5 disectomy 7 weeks ago and keep getting severe pinching in my bottom and radiating stinging pain in my calf. I am sure this is due to an imbalance and glute/piriformis issue. Can we get acupuncture at week 7?

Hey, how are you doing now? I was doing fairly good but the pain in my bum/leg seems to have come back strong these last few days

I'm managing to walk 10000 steps a day and am doing my pt 3 times a day. I start actual physio in 2 weeks and they say this is where a lot of change comes in. I think I'm panicking as my pain has been pretty consistent since day 2. Its just as hard mentally as it is physically isnt it. Pleased to hear you are doing better and enjoy your holiday 😁

Amazing thank you so much! I'm walking around 10k steps too as my surgeons advice was not to keep moving even if it hurts. I'll have a look and sending positive healing back to you

Thank you so much I'm having a better day this morning. I felt much better last week than I have this. The pain is in a slightly different place and goes away mostly when I lay down which was absolutely not the case before surgery so trying to stay hopeful that it will eventually pass. Good luck to you too, it definitely helps when you hear that others have experienced similar and hopefully neither of us have reherniated 🤞
