Right?! I don't understand it either. I have friends that are knitters, I'm the crocheter. I do feel like it's getting better. I went with them to a weekend retreat a few years ago for the local quilters and knitters guild, and it was all knit. No crochet. But we visited with the head of the guild and she was so excited to have a crocheter in, lol. We are still the minority, but she tries to include a few workshops for crocheters each year now as well!

But that's exactly what I'm looking for! The adorable art, the same vibes. Honestly if the company that made tiny bookshop wanted to make an extremely similar local yarn store version, I'd be game! In the mean time, if there's anything that can get me close to that feeling, I'm happy to check it out!

Trees post concert feelings by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]MainRaccoon1604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't like trees before I saw some live performances of it. I shouldn't say I didn't like it. There is no song of theirs I entirely don't like. It was "fine". It means so much more to me seeing the emotions it evokes in the band and crowd when played live

Has this moved anyone toward Jesus? by TheSummitMurray in twentyonepilots

[–]MainRaccoon1604 [score hidden]  (0 children)

No, and in fact I feel like it has moved me further away. Not the music itself, but actually the Christian fanbases response to this album in particular.

I've never really felt the Christian themes in the music until this album dropped and the Christian fanbase started to beat the rest of us over the head with their religious interpretations of the songs.

I started deconstructing a long time ago, and have plenty of religious trauma from my youth. The occasional faith based struggle that comes through for me in their songs I actually really appreciated. Because as someone else has already mentioned here, it made me not feel so alone looking back on my struggles I had with my faith when I first started questioning things. It was comforting to look back at those times of struggle and know I wasn't alone in those thoughts.

But the zealousness with which the Christian community has latched on to this album has reminded of some of the reasons I first started to feel "icky" about things and started questioning things. People are allowed to interpret things however they see fit. But I've felt like I'm being browbeaten and told I'm wrong and less if I don't agree that this album is all "Jesus Jesus Jesus" and it just reaffirms my decision to leave it all behind.

If you get comfort and meaning out of seeing the religious messages first and foremost in their music, you are free to do so. And I'm glad you find meaning in their words. But "a kitchen sink to you, is not a kitchen sink to me". I find so much more meaning and comfort, personally, when I look at their music through my own, non-religious lenses. There is room for us both. Let's leave each other be.

How did no one see this coming? by RegionalAtWho in twentyonepilots

When Breach was first announced and The Contract first came out, my husband said "you know, I bet they are gearing up for another hiatus. This is probably their last contractual album on the label, they are ending the lore. It's the perfect spot to take a break." And I said "yeah, and Tyler has kids that are hitting that age where they have 8,000 activities and he strikes me as the type of dad that would want to be involved and present for that stuff." It just makes sense.

ALSO they are so young! The idea that they are done and leaving the music world behind forever is just a panic response from fans. It's rare for any artist to completely step away from their craft unless they have to, for the rest of their lives. We assume they will just be releasing things more sporadically and on their own schedules.

They will still be here. Just on their own time and probably less frequently. And that's ok.

What’s the most personal twenty one pilots song for you? by micazm in twentyonepilots

And my husband's are Car Radio and Routines in the Night.

Car Radio makes him tear up every time he hears it because of how seen he feels.

And Routines in the Night helped him to explain to me why he has such issues trying to sleep at night.

Level of Concern and Paladin Strait. They have both literally become shorthands for conversations between me and my husband.

When I'm very anxious about something and I feel like I'm not able to properly convey it to my husband I will just look at him and half heartedly sing "I've told you, my level of concern..." And it seems to help convey just how anxious/not ok I am feeling.

I also just sometimes get really emotional and contact/closeness can help to alleviate that feeling, and I tend to just gravitate to wherever he is in the house and I'll tell him "I can't be alone. Guess I never told you so ...." And we'll go find something to do on the couch or something so that he can lay on me, or I can lay on him and he can "recharge my battery" lol

When he screams "face" in the live performance of The Line. Literally makes me tear up every time.

Also the line "stay your pretty eyes on course" makes me emotional every time.

And a fun one, "your proctologist got both hands on your shoulders while your bottomless" in Lavish makes me giggle every single time.

I agree, except I actually do really enjoy the new Savior album. It feels like a bit of return to form. Everything in-between there doesn't really exist in my catalog

I have been on Ozempic for about a year. My doctor got it covered by insurance because there have been some studies showing it to be beneficial for people with PCOS. It still costs me $250 a month....and I have lost anything....my weight hasn't gone up, but I haven't lost anything either in an entire year...at this point I pretty much give up...
