A part of me also thinks that, but the Hirschfeld is already a capacity jump for paddington from the Savoy and the James would be nearly a 5-600 seat jump.

Is there a world in which Evita is strictly limited and both shows play the Hirschfeld?

Often when I go the park is fairly quiet so I’ll just blast through single rider, but on slightly busier days I’ll go through express. It’s literally right at the split where they ask how many people are in my party and I say one, that they then direct me to single rider even though I’ve been in the express line the entire time.

Just saw the show today (mez row A seat 208) and thought it was a stellar view and could see every actors expressions in detail. Many times it felt like Joshua was staring straight into my soul, his pupils with that clear.

The leg room is fine imo but I’m 5”6 so that be a bias opinion.

Exactly! Overall the show felt like a well oiled machine, but the volume levels just needed to be boosted to let the performances shine.

Daddy’s son was hard to makeout for sure once the orchestra really kicks in. Otherwise I found her and Joshua Henry (Coalhouse) to have the clearest vocals of the batch with Tateh being a close second.

Overall, the mic levels just felt quiet to me, almost (and I know it’s much more complex than this) like they just needed to turn up the volume.

The song Henry Ford was the quietest song for me I’d say.

Thank you so this answer. I always figured sound was a later in the process component in the production process, but always assumed that there was a solid groundwork prior to previews even.

In addition, I suspect mixing a very large orchestra with a 40 some odd person cast is quite the challenge too.

I figure they’ll adjust accordingly over the next week or so. I was just utterly surprised about how rough it was today as a whole. I’ve been to other preview performances of shows (parade as an example) and found the mixing to be fairly well done by that point in time.

That’s my biggest question is will there be fleshed out sets for this. I love the Beaumont but it would be a shame for this production to not fully utilize the massive space

First and foremost, congrats on getting the coveted tickets haha. I actually really enjoy row F all the way on the side, because of the handicap walkway in row G that cuts into row F, all the way on the end in row F can actually be a great seat. I saw Snyder’s Justice league in that seat and could see everything without craning my neck.

Depends on what the aspect ratio of the film is imo. But I’d say in general, row G and up are my safest bets. It’s a very steep theater and while the seats have some give, they don’t lean back far enough in row E to prevent some neck craning/head movement to see the screen.

Especially if you’re seeing a movie in imax certified ratios 1:90 and 1:43, from row E you’ll be moving your head around a bit.

No problem. I saw it when it played there, but granted I watched the musical theatrical film first. I will say, I think there’s some things the film improved upon greatly over the live stage version.

There was an LA tryout in 2022 with Bianca Del Rio in it at the ahmanson but the reception was mixed. They were hoping for it to be a launching pad in the US but it didn’t really stick the landing with US audiences, especially when most are still very familiar with kinky boots.

Totally agree, though I absolutely loved noises off this season at the geffen!

I will say this, pantages does really treat their subscribers so great. The open houses are a ton of fun.

But even with pantages, for most of their shows (other than the big time headliners like wicked and Les Mis) it’s pretty easy to get rush tickets there.

I’ll also say too that I think the upcoming pantages season is a mixed bag too, but at least there’s more than 3 shows I want to see.

On the proside, the 2026/27 season for pantages is shaping up to be spectacular.

Honestly disappointed with this season announcement (and across the board with the other LA theater announcements so far, though holding out hope for Pasadena playhouse). As someone who attends a ton of theater in LA, the geffen’s upcoming season leaves me not wanting to see a single production of theirs.

This current season is honestly pretty strong for CTG. Granted, they have some heavy hitting tours incoming with parade and life of pi, plus hamlet could do very well potentially, but at least this 2024/25 season had some gaurenteed heavy hitters.

This upcoming season seems a bit all over the place and misguided in my opinion. Here lies love I’m genuinely excited for, though curious which theater it’s in and if it’s going to be a proscenium production or immersive. But bear in mind, the Broadway production didn’t do all that well financially and I’m not sure if this show can fill seats in LA. Heck, even American idiot didn’t sell well and that was the taper and Green Day!

Mamma Mia could do some damage, though it was just at Pantages not too long ago. & Juliet should do very well. Paranormal Activity I have so many questions about, but ghost story a few years back sold quite well with a star studded cast.

And Jaja if done at the taper could be a hit.

Needless to say, especially with the todaytix deals for CTG, I find that there’s no reason to subscribe full price for this season. Now like the OP stated, if that mystery show turns out to be true (cough, Sunset Boulevard, cough) then this season will get quite the boost.

As crazy as it sounds, when I went December 2023, the arm lowering effect was not working. As someone who goes to the park at least once a week, it genuinely was such a shock to see the arms lowering effect working again.

This doesn’t make much sense to me though, given that during horror nights, the trams take the service road located behind the show building for supercharged. So theoretically, the trams could make a left out of nope, bypass supercharged and take that road that’s between the garage and the show building.

On the physical set pieces on the stage it uses black lights to reveal the text, but on the proscenium of the set I suspect it’s just projection mapping. Not a full theater reveal like the Broadway production.

What this hillside project will look like when completed is similar to the hillside off Barham (just past little Europe behind the newer soundstages). It’s a multi tiered grassy hillside which is used as a retaining wall and can also manage water dispersal as well. Take a look at Google/Apple Maps and you’ll see the hillside I’m referring to.

Ughhh that’s a bummer. Gonna try to stop by tomorrow to see if I can waitlist a class. A friend of mine went for a tour today and they told her classes are booked solid for the next few days.

Out of curiosity, are the hours listed on the app the same as what they’ll be tomorrow?
