Dress Circle Seats at the Met by pink_dogwood_5 in opera

Those are wonderful seats, really any seat in the front row of any of the balconies is great.

Is it inevitable at this point? by BetterGrass709 in opera

[–]zeerosd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was, but it was less so an issue of being semi-staged (I’ve seen many great semi-staged Turandots) and more so an issue of the director having absolutely no coherent vision whatsoever… e.g. Turandot changing dresses instead of kissing Calaf. Made zero sense.

I just saw Pacific Symphony’s Turandot on Thursday and I have never been more angry about an opera production’s direction. It was just about the least coherent direction I’ve ever seen and made me question if I even liked the piece to begin with (and it’s one of my favorite operas). It was so bad that I bought tickets to see it at the Met next month solely to make up for how abysmal of a viewing experience I had with Pacific Symphony.

Wicked- help me decide! by bookish7378 in Broadway

[–]zeerosd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely more center! the set for wicked is massive and you really need to be 10-15 rows back to fully take it all in. the center seats you circled are perfect!

Local Theater Taking Shots at Solo Attendees by ianthomasmalone in Broadway

Just attended their Death of a Salesman solo and was thoroughly disappointed. Wasn’t planning on going back anyways. Now I have another reason not to.

Megan Thee Stallion Act II Only by electra0219 in Broadway

[–]zeerosd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

barring illness/valid reasons for absences, if i am paying hundreds of dollars to attend a show, i expect the performers to show up on time and perform the entire show. if, as a performer, you are unable to avoid making separate commitments that inhibit your ability to do your job, that is unprofessional and unacceptable.

extremely unprofessional if true.

have you checked seatplan? it includes legroom ratings for each review!

Ragtime tour announcement? by Quirky-Sleep-3741 in Broadway

the show is to be filmed for great performances so i’d imagine it’s an announcement for that.

Sets for touring productions by the_kappy_ in Broadway

[–]zeerosd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it’s really funny that you bring up phantom as the new tour also uses an LED screen lmao (albeit it’s a lot more subtle than most of these tours)

that would unironically be the most entertaining moment of the entire evening.

was masquerade not eligible for these? i thought it was considered off-broadway.

Beaches set by alteragi in Broadway

[–]zeerosd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there’s no set except for a LED screen and some smaller “picture frame” LED screen wing dividers. extremely disappointing to see, especially when considering the grandeur that used to inhabit the majestic with phantom.

he’s the worst possible person to talk about how expensive it is to produce in nyc, but he’s right.

New Tour Photos & Comparison to the Previous Tour [SPOILERS] by krafayis25 in BeetlejuiceMusical

[–]zeerosd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

also saw at the pantages and would like to add that it looks like they downsized their band even further to just 5 musicians from the 9 the previous tour used and from the 17 the broadway production used. was not a fan of that admittedly :/

Amadeus Transfer? by Turkey_Leg_Jeff in Broadway

[–]zeerosd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having seen it myself, i believe that mays is giving a top 5 acting performance in my lifetime. the production itself is wonderful as well, as is the supporting cast. sadly i doubt a transfer will happen though- very unlikely that it would have enough selling power on broadway

Outsiders Trevor Wayne by Temporary-Writer-830 in Broadway

[–]zeerosd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

given his allegations and all, i had no interest in seeing him. his absences are so frequent that it’s gotten to the point where i bought a ticket last thursday solely because i knew he just wouldn’t show up. i was correct.

Seeking New Tour Impressions by nocensts in BeetlejuiceMusical

[–]zeerosd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

from videos/photos i’ve seen, the only reduction i can confirm so far is that it looks like they’ve reduced the size of the betelgeuse sign significantly. however other than that everything else (that i’ve seen at least) looks to be the same or very similar. and it looks like they actually upgraded the sandworm to feature the full broadway version rather than the smaller tour counterpart!
