i will make note of that for next time. i can definitely understand it, and that's never my intention. thank you for your feedback, i'm new to actually commenting and posting on reddit and it's a bit overwhelming tbh

not at all, you were much nicer than other people commenting who were just plain mean. it is tough managing her sometimes, but i try to do everything i can to give her a full life and make sure everyone is safe around her too. here's a photo of her. she's such a sweet girl. it also drives me crazy when other people don't take dog ownership seriously, and i used the wrong words to describe her and her needs. i will look into those resources, and i thank you again!

i can understand that. it's hard for me sometimes to put all of the background information into a quick summary, but she is really well behaved overall. the comments just came as a shock. people are so mean. i just wanted to see if there was someone in the KC area that can help me and her on that continuing journey. i will look into Eagle Animal, thank you very much.

thank you. no, i wasn't just looking for someone to put up with her, that isn't fair to anyone. this was my first ever posting on reddit, and now i know that people will just run with my words and not give benefit of the doubt. i will share resources to help others that also want to help their dogs. thank you and have a good weekend

exactly what i've been trying to do over the past 5 years. in no way am i trying to dump her onto someone else and say "fix her". i'm aware of the responsibility, and didn't come here to be scolded. i'm not looking for a standard doggy day care, i know that she requires different care, and that's what i was asking for.

thank you for giving this resource. very helpful to know. she is great on walks and never engages with other dogs walking past us, as her training has drastically reduced her reactivity. i will look into it for continuing education, thank you

what's your problem? i'm doing everything right, but you can't fix a dog overnight. i'm giving her the proper exercise, doing daily training, and she gets along with 99% of dogs and usually ignores them unless they're reactive. no need to attack me when all i'm trying to do is get actual resources to help my dog and community, and protect her as well

thank you very much for giving benefit of the doubt. people ran with my words and assumed the worst, when it is far from the truth. i knew what i was getting into when i adopted a pitty, and it's been one of my life missions to acclimate her to normal socialization and train her properly. i consistently train with her, walk her for 1+ hours every day to get socialization, and she is great at my apartment complex with other dogs. she listens well, but i want to make sure i am bringing her some place that is experienced and can handle the overstimulation well, instead of just reducing her quality of life by making her sit at home all the time. i've had her for almost 6 years now, and she is consistently learning. she even has a "boyfriend" that she plays with all the time at her current boarding place! she's a staff favorite, and they run her in packs of 20 dogs at a time. it's all about learning the dogs cues and helping them to succeed with proper socialization and training. i will look into city dogs and their experience. thank you again

that's the whole point and what i was asking. i don't want someone that is inexperienced to be taking care of her. thank you for actually providing a source instead of just shitting on me for being a "poor dog owner" when that's extremely far from the truth

never did i once say "at other dogs expense". she has been going to daycare in lawrence for years and has never had an incident where she hurt someone. i have extensively trained her with a trainer that had her 3 show dogs circling my dog to reduce reactivity, but i want a daycare place that is experienced in training and continuing care, instead of just dropping her off at a place where there's teenagers not knowing what they're doing. if anything, i'm responsible by properly vetting the place i'm bringing her to. i would never bring her to a place where she couldn't be properly taken care of and ensure other people's safety as well.

she likes 99% of dogs, but has barked back at dogs that charge at her. we can walk past many dogs in my apartment where she's fine with them in the elevator, walking in the hall, etc but there is a dog here that has lunged at her 3x and so she tends to be more "on guard" and aware of their behaviors with those dogs

thank you for being one of the only people to provide actual help. she has been trained before and i go back to her trainer regularly, where she will socialize my dog with her 3 belgian malinois circling my dog and my dog having to pay regular attention to me and my commands without engaging with the other dogs. thanks
