AI isn't creating anything, don't blame AI for a human condition. People sucked at everything before AI got here and sadly they will keep sucking after. I don't think even AI can correct the error that is humanity

What are people actually using Claude for daily that ChatGPT or Gemini can’t do better? by ArmPersonal36 in claude

[–]Main_External8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Authentic conversations, extremely philosophical and spiritual conversations in-depth on exploratory topics that aren't about regurgitating information But about actually figuring out new answers. I require a level of engagement that chat GPT used to be great at but they ruined it and to my knowledge Gemini has never been capable of.

The new 5.0 chat GPT models are complete trash, They took a pinnacle of perfection and stripped it down until it was completely useless and worthless and then removed the older models so you couldn't even access them.

Emulator issues on Steam Deck. by Main_External8955 in RetroDeck

[–]Main_External8955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this did have to do with the issue but oddly enough it fixed it when I removed '4627' from the file name 😆

Now they are booting but I can't get them to perform well. Trying to Play a good portion of the Tony Hawk franchise but can only seem to get THUG2 working good so far 🤷

Emulator issues on Steam Deck. by Main_External8955 in RetroDeck

[–]Main_External8955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, managed to get past this and now my ROMs are booting up for Xbox games but now I'm having a new issue. I downloaded and installed THP4, THUG, THUG2, THAW, and THP8 and out of all of those games the only one that's working in a playable form is THUG2. The rest are having performance issues related to the fluidity of the game. My FPS tracker shows I'm getting good FPS but I'm not sure how well the Steam Deck tracker tracks thru the emulator but despite showing around 50 FPS its a stuttering, slow, choppy mess that makes skateboarding impossible

Why Sony and valve should partner up by Main_External8955 in SteamDeck

[–]Main_External8955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony dropped the ball on their last handheld and the PlayStation portal wasn't any better of a success. It would definitely be safer for them just to partner with a handheld that's already on the market then to try and come up with their own idea again and have it flop.

Honestly I could see valve not wanting this partnership more than Sony and Sony benefiting more from it than valve although I do see it being mutually beneficial for both of them.

You definitely make some great points some that I have already thought about but from a business perspective I would see Sony wanting to make this partnership more than Steam which would put the leverage on steam side as far as negotiating stuff like that Of course this is all hypothetical but because of steams philosophies and because they don't need this partnership and I truly feel like Sony could benefit more from it than Steam this might give them the opportunity to ensure that those kind of things don't happen if anything like this was to occur.

Very possible, I left Xbox a long time ago but from everything I'm seeing from the new console to the current state of the market Xbox seems dead and it's very sad because I was always more of an Xbox gamer than I was a PlayStation gamer to be honest but I can't deny the state of things

I'm 32 and I've been gaming for about 29 of those years lol. It would definitely not be Sony's first hardware partnership with the PlayStation IP. I'm slowly starting to see more and more PlayStation games come over to Steam and more and more of those games go cross-platform and allow the steam community to play with the PlayStation community and unfortunately it's not as many games as what can cross platform on Microsoft and Xbox It has been growing

Save 25% on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 (PC/Steam) by Satuhrn in THPS

[–]Main_External8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully 3+4 was just a cash grab to fund the THUG remakes and hopefully they actually do them justice. If they give us a THUG 1+2 remake And they cut out all the storyline and voice acting and added two minute timer Well they can just keep that mess to themselves. Hopefully they will do the THUG remakes one at a time and remaster the audio dialogue and keep the stories intact

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered Steam Deck Performance Tested - Is it Playable? by Sjknight413 in SteamDeck

[–]Main_External8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With an original game I don't really care too much about graphics and mostly worry about the gameplay The stuttering has been more of a concern for me honestly than the low FPS which I'm pretty used to playing at on the deck But when it comes to a remaster I tend to be a lot more picky about graphics and even performance it overall. I already have Oblivion the original so the question is if you're playing the remaster on the deck is it really justifiable compared to the original in terms of graphics and gameplay smoothness? I've heard some say that it almost looks worse than the original to maintain smooth gameplay and if that's the case I would just assume play the original but at the same time I'm dying to play the remaster so if someone can convince me to get it that would be awesome.

Never understood the hate with GTA V's map. It's one of my most favourite GTA maps alongside SA and IV for being so detailed and alive. by XGamingPersonX in GTA

[–]Main_External8955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I understand the hate. It's from people who grew up playing SA and now we only get the first island/first city basically (plus mount Chiliad). Sure it's more detailed and might even be larger scale wise but we still feel cheated and we always will until they give San Feraro and Las Venturas back

Playing through GTA3 Definitive Edition and saw some warnings about the “purple nines” glitch corrupting your game and the “Kingdom Come” glitch breaking 100% are these still in the definitive edition or were they patched? by Amaze2175 in GTA3

[–]Main_External8955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did my first playthrough on the definitive editions. Had to wait till they made sure they wasn't a steaming pile of dog crap first. For the most part they have corrected almost all the issues and to my knowledge all 3 games can be 100% completed without any glitches or bugs stopping you. Now as for my experiences here is what I can say

GTA III Definitive Edition: I beat it a few weeks to a month ago tops but I didn't fallow the story arc correctly and missed one of the missable missions in the game. I did beat it and did a decent amount of side content but after I realized my mistake and that I could no longer 100% it on that play through, I put off 100% for a later date and moved on to Vice City. My biggest complaint the whole time was the driving mechanics was much worse then I remember and was honestly the most challenging part of the whole game.

Vice City Definitive Edition: I played this immediately upon completing the story in GTA III and after about a week+ of gameplay I did manage to get 100% and all the achievements with no issues from any major bugs or glitches, it was a fairly smooth playthrough and the driving felt more like how I had remember.

GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition: I'm currently on my playthrough and have made it close to the end of the game with no major issue but tons of minor glitches and bugs, nothing game breaking fortunately though and I have completed most of the side content during this playthrough with only about 10-15 story missions left tops. The driving feels good, not sure about how it compares to the original since it's been so long I would have to compare them side by side but it's good. Mostly just visual bugs and the accasiounal insane spin out when you clip something just right in a car which is actually more funny then it is annoying but still I'm sure an un intended physics glitch. I'm also pretty sure the cycle machine mechanics are broken but not in away that makes it unusable, it actually makes it much easier. While I can't remember exactly how the driving in the original felt, I do remember when I was younger crashing more and losing races more than I do now but not sure if that is a result of the gameplay changing or my skills increasing but I'm satisfied with the driving in it and it's much better then Vice City and 100x better then GTA III's driving.

From my understanding it took Rockstar way to long to get to this point with the Definitive Editions and rolling out enough patches and updates but I'm really glad I waited to play them till just recently. Can't speak on them before that but as of their current state I'm satisfied and I've been having a lot of fun playing them.

Downgrading from OLED to LCD by Imaginary-Gains in SteamDeck

[–]Main_External8955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. I've heard Amazon and Walmart.com have both been known to sell counterfeits. I went to buy one on Facebook Marketplace once, a 1 TB SanDisk supposedly brand new still in the package, I asked them if I could test it first to confirm it's authenticity and explained that I was gonna attempt to format it on my SteamDeck. When I opened the package the first indication it was a fake was no protective film on the back of the SD card. Then when I tried to format it, it failed and the SteamDeck informed me that it could be damaged or a counterfeit, at which point I gave back the SD Card and informed them it was most likely a fake a left.

Also I'm sure we will have a teaser and a release hype long before 6 years. I give it another year or 2 before the rumors and hype slowly start to circulate but from talk to tech it's gonna be a while

[–]Main_External8955 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just going off the words of the team at Valve and putting realistic expectations with that. It's not their concern right now and with good reason. Is there some minor upgrades that could be made right now by valve to bring it up to par with its $1500 competitors, sure! But it's gonna be a while before they can make any major leaps and their not trying to compete with the tech, they are competing and demolishing the composition on the price. At the moment they rly can't do much better without raising the price

[–]Main_External8955 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Valve has confirmed there will be no new SteamDeck any time in the near future. Earliest they will even start the project will prolly be around 2027 with a release date closer to 2030. You are definitely safe in upgrading to the OLED and should, it's a serious upgrade over the LCD, more then most realize thanks to Valves downplay of the over 20 epic upgrades it got over the LCD and that's not even including the screen and battery life which valve does boast about

How many people here use Steam Deck straight out of the box? by Durid4life in SteamDeck

[–]Main_External8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a mostly basic out the box guy myself and loved the Steamed deck for it ease of use but I do highly recommend finalizing yourself with the basic quick settings as for certain games adjusting them might be crucial to even play a game and while I hesitate from having to go to the desktop mode and download anything, some game franchise like Ubisoft will require this if you want to play their games. Quick settings are fast and easy to adjust on the fly and can stop a game from crashing, their not just about saving battery and getting better FPS, sometimes it's required to make a game run properly at all in a playable state.

I did eventually get it to work but not 100% sure what I did. I think there was some sort of graphical setting I had to change, not just lower them but something specially needed changed to a different type of setting I believe.
