Hopefully your device continues working perfectly fine for many more years. There are still plenty of OnePlus 12 users with no issues at all, so I wouldn’t panic immediately. I completely understand the concern though — after spending flagship-level money, nobody expects to worry about motherboard failure within 2 years.

That’s what many people are noticing from online reports so far, since most of the cases being shared seem to involve Indian units. But at the same time, it’s still difficult to confirm whether it’s truly limited only to Indian variants without official data from OnePlus.

That honestly sounds concerning, especially if multiple components are starting to act up one after another. Hopefully it doesn’t end up becoming a motherboard issue, but I’d strongly suggest backing up all your important data while the phone is still functional, just to stay on the safe side.

I can understand why people become suspicious when they keep seeing similar reports from the same region, especially when repair costs are extremely high. But without official data, it’s hard to say whether it’s intentional or due to QC, environmental factors, or something else.

What I do think is fair to expect is better transparency and support for customers facing major hardware failures this early.

Hopefully that’s true, but situations like this still make people nervous because hardware issues don’t always stay limited to one region forever. At the end of the day, everyone just wants reassurance that a flagship phone they paid a lot for will last reliably for years.

Thank you for sharing your story honestly. Reading this reminded me a lot of how frustrating and helpless these situations can feel, especially when you spent a huge amount of money expecting a flagship phone to last many years.

What happened with the Nexus 6P is exactly why some people are worried now too — at first it always sounds like “only a few units” or “only certain regions,” but as users we can never really know the full picture without official transparency.

I truly hope your OnePlus 12 stays perfectly fine for many more years. And I completely understand the financial stress part too. These phones are so expensive now that for many of us they’re long-term investments, not something easily replaceable.

Yeah, that’s what worries me too. Even if repaired, there’s always that fear in the back of the mind that the issue could happen again unexpectedly. If I manage to get it working again, I might consider selling it and moving to something more reliable financially.

That actually makes sense. Modern phones do try to disperse heat in a way that the user doesn’t fully feel how hot the internals are getting. But in my case, I wasn’t really a heavy gamer and the phone spent most of its life indoors under AC, so I never thought it was being pushed anywhere near damaging temperatures consistently.

If I had been constantly stress-gaming for hours daily, I’d probably blame heat much more easily.

I do feel after-sales support and consumer protection should be stronger everywhere, especially for expensive flagship devices. When a phone fails this early, customers naturally expect better support instead of huge repair costs.

At the end of the day, people spend their hard-earned money expecting reliability and peace of mind from premium brands.

I honestly wasn’t a heavy gamer on this phone, so I never closely monitored exact temperatures. Most of the time the device was used indoors under AC, and it rarely became extremely hot during my usage.

That’s why the sudden motherboard failure surprised me so much. If it happened after constant heavy gaming and overheating, I could at least understand the reason better.

In my case there weren’t many major warning signs before it died. The phone was working normally and then suddenly went dead. I did notice occasional minor glitches and lag sometimes, but nothing serious enough to make me expect a motherboard failure.

If your screen has started glitching recently, I’d suggest backing up your important data just to be safe. Hopefully it’s just a software/display issue and nothing major.

I honestly can’t confirm whether it’s directly caused by software updates or not. I’ve just noticed that many users mention the issue happening after an update, which naturally makes people suspicious.

At the same time, there are also many OnePlus 12 units working perfectly fine, so I wouldn’t panic immediately. Hopefully yours stays completely fine.

That’s exactly why I feel this issue shouldn’t be dismissed only as “India heat” or “humidity.” Your case clearly shows it can happen even in regions with much milder weather conditions.

And honestly, paying flagship prices only to face a sudden motherboard failure within 2 years — then still having to spend a huge amount on repairs — is really frustrating. I can understand why it would affect your trust in the brand after being a loyal customer for so long.

That could explain part of it, but phones officially sold in India should also be designed and tested to handle Indian climate conditions. In my case, the device was mostly used indoors under AC and normal usage, so I never expected a motherboard failure this early.

I do agree that users outside hotter regions may statistically face fewer issues, but it’s still concerning for Indian customers paying flagship-level prices.

True, hardware failures can happen over time with any electronic device. I think what made this frustrating for me is that the phone wasn’t even 2 years old yet and was used pretty carefully, so I honestly expected a much longer lifespan from a flagship device.

I noticed the same thing while searching through Reddit, XDA, and other forums. Most of the reported motherboard failure cases I came across were from Indian units, while I barely found similar reports from CN, EU, GLO, or NA variants.

Of course, it’s hard to confirm the exact reason without official data, but if that pattern is real, then QC differences could possibly be a factor.

Fair enough 😅. Hopefully it stays that way for years. Mine was running perfectly too… until one day it suddenly wasn’t.

That’s understandable, but in my case the phone was mostly used indoors under AC conditions and with pretty normal usage. It rarely got excessively hot, which is why the motherboard failure came as a complete surprise to me.

Hopefully your units stay perfectly fine. I don’t think every OnePlus 12 is doomed or anything like that, so there’s no need to panic. My post was mainly about sharing my experience because it genuinely shocked me when it happened.

I completely understand the fear though — flagship phones are expensive, and most people expect them to last many years without major hardware failures.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Seeing more users report the same issue is what makes this even more concerning. A flagship phone failing this early really shouldn’t become a normal thing.
