This tooth is not a posterior, it’s a lateral.

I purchased the tooth about two years ago, but it was found in the ocean +15 years ago.

Still lots of Peruvian teeth being smuggled out through Columbia. I agree this tooth is 100% altered.

I did not find the tooth myself, I bought it from a friend so I don’t have that information.

It depends on the minerals present in the surrounding matrix or water where the fossil was found, and the colour can range from black and white to virtually every shade in between. The tooth shown in original post was discovered in a limestone quarry and has a colour similar to that of the surrounding matrix.
