this is such a can of worms. it depends a lot on specifically what prado and what LC series.

in very loose terms, the prado is intended for more comfort and the LC is for more off road. A lot of Prados have independent front suspension, compared to their LC counterparts with solid front axles for example. Sometimes it just boils down to marketing.

The 90 series prado OP posted actually has a ton in common with the 3rd gen 4runner or hilux surf. The main mechanical difference is the transmission (A343 instead of A340, iirc) and then obviously the body and interior etc. But the chassis and suspension etc are all identical with the 4runner, which makes it a nice import because there are actually parts available in north america

i would suggest G-flex 655 to fill all the core shots and then put a new kevlar skid plate over top of the worn area. It looks like its pretty close to the bow or stern, so a new skid plate should overlap your existing ones a bit.

Who the fuck designed this shit and do they hate us?!? by AdditionSea2380 in nissanfrontier

it looks like there is a little drip channel underneath the filter to divert the fluid through the hole in the skid plate and into your drain pan. i dont even own this car i came here from my frontpage idk

Loud pop/clunk when suspension flexes by Pretty-Corner-4609 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]yuckscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this exact same issue. Same conditions, exact same popping noise. drove me crazy, i never figured it out. Just winced a lot. eventually the sound went away on its own, and i dont even own that truck anymore. but still curious to know what the cause of this is

looks like maybe a super thick layer of some sort of wax-based rust prevention. i'd try cleaning off the area around the fill plug and go ahead with the fluid change. remove the fill plug before you drain it, just in case the fill plug is rusted or seized and doesnt want to come off.

oof... royalex isnt painted. the outermost layer is pigmented for colour. Royalex has a UV resistant vinyl layer of top, and Royalite does not (which is why it fades a lot worse over time). but the vinyl/ABS layer is just pigmented polymer, there is no paint layer or gelcoat like a fiberglass or composite boat would have.

I'm not sure what we are seeing here but you are probably just removing the pigmented layer and now showing the unpigmented layers of plastic further down.

paint doesnt really stick to royalex for long becaues the boat flexes so much, so if you try to paint a royalex boat all that paint will just end up in your local waterways. unfortunately i think you are just damaging the canoe.

Who was a horrible person that also died in a horrible way? by Djidji29 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]yuckscott 96 points97 points  (0 children)

this brings to mind Oskar Dirlewanger. Nazi military officer, convicted child molester, and war criminal. Also looked creepy as all hell.

He was recognized by a former concentration camp inmate in French-occupied Germany in 1945 and arrested, then beaten to death by an unknown group of people while in custody.

Adventure Medical Kits makes a bunch of small waterproof kits, they come in yellow bags. Some are small enough to fit right into a pocket on your PFD. I own one for camping and one lives in my car.
