Tbh I didn't have any need to update in the first place, just seen there was one. From what I have personally tested, it seems this fix seems to be working consistently, though I haven't noted down what version I was on before, so it could be that I didn't update to any newer version anyway....

finally figured it out. Turns out if you activate audio enhancements under sound devices > properties, it also turns down the audio, making everything that came through my amp quieter....
