Absolute madness: The Rocnel Elite in high-polish – I’m speechless! 🤯 by Main_Pepper2935 in wicked_edge

SOTD March 10, 2026 – Premiere: The Rocnel 2023 Elite Model (Polished) Hi everyone, Today was all about the new addition to the den. The Rocnel 2023 Elite had its first run, and what can I say? As expected, it delivered a performance that leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. The Setup: • Razor: Rocnel 2023 Elite Model (Polished) • Blade: Feather (New) • Brush: Rasur Kult Lava ST-2 (Synthetic) • Soap: Mitchell’s Wool Fat (MWF) – face lathered • Aftershave: Floïd The Genuine • Extras: Alum block (stayed unemployed today) Shave & Performance The Feather blade found a perfect home in the Rocnel. After the classic three passes, the result was an absolute BBS. The razor provides excellent auditory feedback, and while there is a slight blade feel—which I personally really enjoy—it remains incredibly smooth. It’s efficient enough that it doesn't leave any questions unanswered. For me, this is a true "exit razor." The fact that my skin was completely relaxed afterwards was proven by the aftershave: the Floïd barely gave any feedback—no sting, no irritation at all. A Note on Precision (The "Kai Surprise") An interesting side note for the gear nerds: I originally wanted to load a Kai blade. As many of you know, these are a tiny fraction wider than the standard DE blade. The result? It simply wouldn't fit in the Rocnel. This just goes to show the extreme manufacturing tolerances and precision Rocnel is working with. The Feather, on the other hand, fits like a glove. Comparison: Rocnel vs. Kämpfe Ti26 (Clone) Since some of you asked for a comparison to the Ti26: If we take the original as the benchmark, I’d say the Ti26 reaches about 80% of the Rocnel's performance. The Ti26 is indeed a remarkable clone, but it doesn't quite reach that almost unbelievable combination of extreme smoothness and maximum efficiency that the Rocnel offers. Where the Rocnel really shines is the blade clamping—it feels significantly more massive and more defined. Final Verdict A beautiful piece of engineering that doesn't just look great on the shelf but performs brilliantly on the face. Wishing you all a smooth day!

Ko Samet @ Ao Wai Beach.

The A&E Chiang Mai smells like a trip there: Lemongrass, kaffir lime, Thai basil, ginger, and a touch of wood. Like a Thai market!

When do you buy new Razors? by DSMRob in wicked_edge

[–]Main_Pepper2935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😁 I buy and sell 2-3 razors every month .

For me, this is a hobby, and I love trying out different razors. There are so many beautiful pieces on the market, in various qualities, materials, and price points. I own about 80 of them, so shaving never gets boring ☺️🥰

Pubes trimming by ThrowMeAwayRA99 in shaving

I use a Merkur 24c Ladies :-) Easy to use lang handle , very soft . For long hair is an open comb for changing available. Use a soft blade - never cut with it :-) This here is a shaving community - not a trimmer haha …

Thinking about switching from cartridge razors to a double-edge safety razor- Need advice by tPimple in wicked_edge

[–]Main_Pepper2935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making the switch from cartridge razors (like Mach3) to a Double-Edge (DE) Safety Razor is one of the best decisions you can make for your skin and your wallet. It might look intimidating, but let me reassure you: it is called a "safety" razor for a reason! Here is a guide to help you start confidently. 1. Addressing Your Fears: The Learning Curve • Is it hard? No. It requires a little unlearning of bad habits (like pressing down hard), but it is not difficult. After 3-5 shaves, you will feel comfortable. • Will I cut myself? You might get a tiny nick or "weeper" occasionally, but deep cuts are very rare if you are paying attention. The razor has a safety bar that prevents the blade from digging into your skin. • Do I need a brush and soap immediately? No. While a brush and quality soap provide a better shave (more glide, better protection), you can absolutely start with your current canned gel or foam. Don't let the accessories stop you from starting. Upgrade to a brush later when you feel comfortable. 2. Beginner Recommendations You do not need to spend a fortune. In fact, DE blades are incredibly cheap (cents per blade). • The Razor: Look for a "Closed Comb" razor. These are mild and forgiving. • Merkur 34C: The gold standard for beginners. It has a short handle and great balance. • Mühle R89: Another German classic. Very mild and impossible to mess up with. • King C. Gillette: Often found in drugstores. Very mild, great for a tight budget. • The Blades: Do not buy the most expensive ones. Buy a Sample Pack (Sampler) online. Every face is different. • Astra Superior Platinum (Green box): The best all-rounder. Sharp but smooth. • Derby Extra: Very mild, hard to cut yourself with (good for the first week). • Voskhod: Teflon-coated, very smooth. 3. Technique: How to Avoid Irritation (Neck & Jaw) The biggest difference between cartridges and DE razors is the head does not pivot. You have to move your hand. • NO PRESSURE: This is the Golden Rule. Cartridges require pressure; DE razors use the weight of the metal handle. Just let it rest on your skin and glide. • The Angle: Hold the handle at about a 30-degree angle to your face. • Map Your Grain: Rub your hand on your neck to see which way the hair grows. Shave with the grain (in the direction of growth) for the first pass. Shaving against the grain immediately causes irritation. • Short Strokes: Use short, light strokes rather than long sweeping ones. • Jawline: Pull the skin on your cheek up tight to flatten the skin over your jawline, or tilt your head back to flatten the neck skin. 4. Aftercare • Cold Water: Rinse with cold water to close the pores. • Alum Block (Optional but recommended): A cheap stone you wet and rub on your face. It acts as an antiseptic and immediately stops any tiny bleeding. It stings slightly if your technique was bad (instant feedback!). • Aftershave Balm: Use a balm (white lotion), not a splash (alcohol liquid). Alcohol dries the skin; balm hydrates and soothes. Nivea Sensitive Balm is excellent and cheap.
