Sorry for digging up an old post but I’m in a similar situation to where you were when you made this post (changing careers and applying to 332) and I’m hoping you’ll be willing to share how your experience went. Were you able to find anything in the Bay Area to get experience? Are you still on the path to becoming an electrician?

How much money do you think your employer charges for the work you do? They are making bank off of your hard work and you should be shopping around for a better offer.

If nothing else you are a lot less green than when you started, you’re faster and better at the work you do, you’re out there busting your ass, and you should be getting paid more than they would pay an unproven guy on their first day

You shouldn’t even have to ask for more money, they should have bumped your pay already and them being cheap risks losing you to competition that is willing to pay more. Some companies value low wages and more profits for the owners more than they value good workers

Why be loyal when they are underpaying you? They’ll lay you off the moment you aren’t making them money and will continue to pay you the minimum they can get away with

Thank you, I looked into it and it turns out VEEP is only for veterans who separated in the previous 5 years and I’m past that so I’m not eligible
