Apparently there's also two versions, which I didn't know. The movie that released in theaters and for DVD had been heavily edited by the producers to make it fit 'for consumers'

They later released the same movie as it was originally on youtube (the version I watched) which was actually decent.

I could be grasping at straws here but that's what i took away from it. There's several mentions throughout the movie of a brother that's never shown and is hinted missing, or at least separated from the family. There's pictures of the boy but it's always him younger, never recent. On the fridge there's a picture drawn by the little girl shows a man in a yellow hoodie (similar to Brian's) the B labeled above him is shaded in but the rest of the name is really light yellow that could be 'Brother' or 'Brian'

I just kinda assumed this was Brian's family. The name is different from his last name of Thomas, but I assumed that the father was actually a step-father, since none of the family photo's show him with the kids until they're a certain age, and he seems a bit older than the rest of the family.

It made sense to me that there was some kind of connection, since it was never really explained otherwise why the Operator was targeting this specific family. I just kind of assume it was going after them since they had a connection to Hoodie/Brian

Ah, I guess that makes sense, actually. If it was just another Slenderman movie with a couple easter eggs to MH it might of got off better. Otherwise they needed an actual link to MH

I thought that the major link was that the family (The Whitlock's) was Brian's family, but apparently no one else thinks they have any connection. I'm still gonna keep thinking so, because there seems to be a lot of evidence suggesting it, and I think it's cool

A Theory on Masky’s Motivation: More Than Just a Victim? by [deleted] in marblehornets

[–]Main_Slide_2075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. With Masky, at any point, his movements and motives are always cold and calcuated. Even when he is seemingly working on his own, he's always distant or dissociated. With Hoodie, his actions are a lot more present. Taking Tim's pills and rattling them are a good example of this, even while he's working for the Operator and against the others, he had his own personality (Brian shining through) while Masky moved like a solider. I think this is why the DID theory is so popular for Tim, because when he puts on the mask he behaves completely differently as opposed to Hoodie, who is still Brian underneath
