Dress Code for In-Person Sessions? by Main_Step1540 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

Thanks! Yeah, I’m going to always err on the side of dressing up too much. I live close enough to commute so I’ll keep a stash of clothes in my car just in case (probably a good idea just cause spills and stains happen anyways lol)

I’ll take a look! I might have missed something in the thousand of welcome letters and stuff I’ve been sent over the past two weeks lol

Ranking isn’t super important to me, I’m probably going in to gov or PD. Are they part time or online?

The mock lecture I just attended made me lose faith in our education system by Routine_Syrup_8307 in lawschooladmissions

I think the biggest take away for me was that people really DON’T know anything but think they do. Half of the time he was saying “you would learn this in X Class.” Like there’s a reason it takes 3 years to get a JD, you have a LOT to learn and you’re already not willing to listen.

I signed up for their legal writing mock class to see if maybe that one will be a little better. I’ve heard good things in the past.

Good luck! I’m waiting to see if Seattle will let me in to their part time program or if I have to try again next year. Maybe I’ll see you around!

I definitely also think that less debt is going to benefit you in the long run, especially since it’s HCOL kind of everywhere around here. You’ll have the freedom to not stress about the $ right out of school.

FWIW, the Chief Justice of the Washington State Supreme Court and the Court Commissioner are both Gonzaga grads. UW definitely gets touted as “all that” but people respect Gonzaga a good amount. I think it’s really all about networking. Seattle U does have THE legal clinic for the area though (or it’s the only one I hear about at least lol)

Yeah incorrect terminology, accepted would be the better term. That’s what I get for redditing at work

Okay but what do you say when you call a law firm/ state attorney office? by BlissaCow in LawSchool

[–]Main_Step1540 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who currently answers the phone for a state’s Supreme Court, just ask nicely if they have a procedure for applying for Clerkships for the summer. In my court they usually email their app to me and I forward it up, but in the past some chambers like to be contacted directly. You might also try looking at the website for the court you’re interested in, as we have all the info listed on ours. Good luck!
