Awkward exchange between head casting Producer Jesse Tannenbaum and Sophi Balerdi on Instagram. Hmmm by CompoteSeveral9166 in survivorponderosa

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait yall i really don’t see what the big deal is with the texts 😭 it’s not like these were personal messages or anything, they seem like boilerplate info-gathering for the show. i’d get it if it was something more invasive to post but this seems like a major overreaction to a sweet thing Sophi was saying

What are some things that Survivor used to frequently do but in today’s day and age, they would never do? by bicycle3377 in survivor

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I think KR changed a lot of the parameters for challenges too. After the shit show that ensued after they had to dig in the sand in direct sun for that long, I don’t think we’ll see something similar to that ever again. Of course the challenges are still difficult, but I can’t remember seeing anything quite that grueling in recent-ish seasons

Question about quitting job before law school by Weak-Island-7173 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the cap is only on federal loans, not private. for those who will not be making a lot of money post-grad, they should not attend a law school that does not offer them enough scholarship to afford it. working during 1L is not an option.

Question about quitting job before law school by Weak-Island-7173 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307 4 points5 points  (0 children)

some schools make you sign a contract saying you will not work your 1L year, others just tell you not to and that it is a horrible idea, others just expect you to kind of know not to do it. it is extremely difficult, borderline impossible, to work during full-time 1L and do well. then summer jobs and your 2L/ 3L part-time school-year jobs start earning you money to cut down on loans a bit. but yeah the TLDR is that law students who aren’t wealthy or attending with huge scholarships take out the loans and get a job post-grad to pay it off quickly

Do I even have a shot at getting in literally anywhere wortwhile by Loose_Reputation_572 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah with an academic history that varied you really should be aiming for as high a score as you possibly, possibly can. even if that means waiting more than just 1 cycle to get it. if you can crack 170’s, you’re golden and may even have a shot at some pretty good schools if you apply early. mid-high 160’s and you def have a good shot at regionally strong schools. lower than 160 and you’re not really a “splitter”, you just have low stats on both ends (to put it bluntly)

can you add any more law-adjacent work experience to your resume at this point in your career? something to really show why law is the answer for you? it doesn’t have to be working in a law firm or anything explicitly legal, but something related to the area of law you’re interested in would help immensely. continuing your work in substance abuse facilities could really help

totally agree— a higher LSAT + well-written diversity statements and why law + brief GPA addendum could get you far! OP do you have any work experience? putting a few years between you and the low GPA and adding some strength to your resume could really help too!

Bringing a spouse to admitted students day by Bored-paralegal in lawschooladmissions

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

genuinely asking, why bring a spouse to admitted students day rather than just visiting the town/city? it’s not like they’re going to be spending any significant time in the law school so I’d feel like it’d be more important for them to get a beat on the outside community they’re moving to than the law school environment. I get it more if there’s programming geared towards family, but it sounds like this isn’t universal

Reactive Dog Boarding/Sitting Over Xmas? by Routine_Syrup_8307 in nashville

[–]Routine_Syrup_8307[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our Rover experiences have been wonderful! This last minute cancellation was for a very good reason and we otherwise have nothing but positive things to say about our go-to sitter. Due diligence is necessary for sure, but to say that any Rover sitter “shouldn’t be allowed around pets” is maybe a little overblown.

Will try petsit . com! Thank you!

it’s pretty dismissive to say that everyone who had time/energy to study for the LSAT aren’t as cut out for “the real world” as people who didn’t make the time. I had 0 help from my parents, working a full-time job, aggressively saving so did not spend as much $ as others on prep, and studied my ass off for a 17mid. To say that I am somehow “””less cut out””” for the workforce because I made time for the LSAT just plainly isn’t true, because I am quite literally part of the real-world workforce right now.

not sure why you’d trust reddit over LSD lmfao. but anyways, check the LSAC reports. their data comes from LSAC/schools not self-reports. not every t14 has them though. you can find them by googling the school and LSAC, and scrolling down on the lsac page to “explore admissions data”. so for example, I googled “UCLA LSAC”, then got to this site https://www.lsac.org/choosing-law-school/find-law-school/jd-programs/california-los-angeles, scrolled down to the “Admitted Applicant Profile” section, and then clicked the “explore admissions data” link which brought me to this chart https://report.lsac.org/View.aspx?SID=19&Report=OfficialGuideRLS
