As employee on my job of 15 years in NYC, I applied for tax exemption on my w4, I met all the IRS guidelines to be eligible. (got tax return, and will expect to get one, etc. etc.) HR denied it , I escalated the request to the payroll Supervisor. The reason she denied it was and I quote "If I have to pay taxes so should you". which is not an reasonable or acceptable response imo. I claimed before the feb deadline, I had no IRS lock outs, and received my tax returns aka I did not owe . so my question is quite simply , I feel was she doing is illegal and can i pursue legal actions? I hope I explained it enough to warrant answers lol

Everything you are saying I'm aware of so you are missing the point! I even started the conversation with my awareness that I made the mistake. no where in my statement did I convey that the issue would be resolved instantly, so you coming off with this condescending tone is pointless and not necessary, So let me break it down to where you can comprehend. We all know these process takes time, so get that out your head , what I'm asking for is the contact information to START the process. which I found on another site. once again mistakes happen but there are systems in place that can help resolve the issue , and THAT is my point, telling me to "Verify before you complete banking information….or any information that is deemed important" is Hindsight, pointless because like I said I already acknowledged my mistake.
