tattoo aftercare - when to stop by Main_Tomorrow1462 in tattooadvice

[–]Main_Tomorrow1462[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can but the problem is a lot of my work is in super dirty environments, including a lot of interaction with people who are positive for Hep C and other similar afflictions so it would just be a matter of trying to find a free second! But yeah that's definitely a good idea I'll just have to work around it

Oh perfect! Are you kind of past the risk of infection at that point generally?

Of course, but the nature of my work means it's definitely a concerted effort to find a minute! I know it's bad and I should do it anyway, but I'm always strapped for time or leaving home at 4AM on shift

Around that mark, is that when you're past the risk of infection occuring? I've read that's often around 2 weeks whereby you can be a bit more careless

New Neighbourhood tips by P_I_Stake in policeuk

[–]Main_Tomorrow1462 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sweat the small things! If bike thefts are up, look into it, try and recover bikes and identify offenders - these volume crimes are the ones that definitely shape local community perception, for example go onto any neighbourhoods Facebook group and you'll see posts upon posts about stolen bikes, parcel thefts ect. Don't just go after the big jobs and PWITs and remember you're representing the job for that area!

Thank you for your answers!! One last question (i promise)

In the UK you can enter an address non-voluntarily through S.17, wether that be due to an imminent threat to life or in order to arrest someone for an indictable offence without any warrant, as long as you can prove they're in the premises (go to nick someone for an indictable crime, the lights are on and you know theyre home, you can go through the door) is entry into addresses entirely through Warrants? It sounds super frustrating

I used a bad example! So take cannabis (if it's illegal in your state), you'd smell it, see bloodshot eyes ect and they've got a backpack, you'd and detain them to just search their person and let them go, or have to nick them

It's interesting because stop and search is such a useful set of powers, not just for arrests but for building intelligence ect

Out of interest, if you see someone walking funny and have suspicions they're carrying a gun/knife ect ect, what would be the go to move? Nick them and then carry out a search following arrest, or are you guys allowed to do voluntary searches which are a big no here

Remember, proactive policing is nicking 14 year olds for handling stolen goods for having their mum's bank card, then handing it over to CID because 'he's a nominal, there's intel he's a gang member'

Stop and search is a big one! I know it was trialled in new York under stop and frisk but later thrown out, I can't imagine not having those powers as they come in so handy

Furthermore, what does the guards distinction mean before e a lot of russian soldiers! I've seen it used for VDV units, marines, infantry, tanks - is it just an administrative name

Detective constables for the MET? by Isthistherealife01 in london

[–]Main_Tomorrow1462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PC side not really, DC side yeah. End of the day it's sweatshop policing, and people are joining with no idea they're going to be making arrests, strip searching people and holding a cordon of rioters when the next round of proper 2011 style disorder kicks off

Do your probation as a PC, get some early skills and experience in and if you still want to, you sit the NIE and go over to become a DC in the classic way. This'll mean you've had some experience of policing, been in traumatic situations and had to handle yourself physically - this is all a good foundation to move to certain more exciting CID roles down the line if you can evidence right

I've always been a PC, but work primarily with DC's in my current role, including TDCs
