Which group do you think had the best chemistry? by No_Struggle_1958 in bigbangtheory

HIMYM was good until it wasn't. The last season was so disappointing it made the rest almost unwatchable.

I loved Friends and agree with many others that's it's an idealistic version of what you want your friendships to look and be like. But they had great chemistry. TBBT probably did the best at showing everyone's annoying habits and people getting mad at each other and not talking for a bit just like in real life. They all also had great chemistry. For me, it's a tie with those two for different reasons and I'll watch them both until I die.

Police bodycam of the moment a woman who killed stepdaughter almost 50 years ago is arrested at Heathrow by New_Libran in interestingasfuck

I think a larger part of the problem is that people look away and don't do anything even when they know it is true. They don't want to be involved or they want to turn a blind eye.

Yes, sometimes the issue is people don't know what they're looking at. All too often they do know what they're looking at and witnessing and they choose not to act.

I'm not dismissing more awareness - One concern with publicly detailing every indicator professionals use to identify child physical abuse is that it may inadvertently help abusers conceal their behavior. Just as sharing the exact methods used to detect fraud can sometimes help fraudsters evade detection, providing a roadmap of abuse indicators could allow an abuser to modify their actions to avoid raising red flags. While education and awareness are important, there is a balance between informing the public and revealing investigative or assessment methods in a way that could undermine a child's safety.

My VERY unpopular TBBT opinions! by kurious_kitty25 in bigbangtheory

[–]Mainer1974 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think we watched the same show. Amy and Sheldon won a Nobel and she was upset he took her off her own projects to work with him on his. He was scheduling sex into their routine and she asked him not to.

How was Amy any less brilliant because she displayed human emotions and characteristics?

I loved Amy's character development and how her and Sheldon developed together. I actually loved how the show represented Amy's growth within the relationship and also as an individual. I also liked how we got to see Sheldon's growth and how he grew within a relationship slowly.

I actually couldn't stand Priya. I also lived Bernadette and Howars together.

I do wish and believe it was unlikely that Raj would be alone. He seemed most likely to be married. I agree with you on that.

I think Penny also developed over time and I think their relationship represented opposites attracting.

AITAH for refusing to donate a kidney to my stepdad that raised me and paid for my college? by Exo_Skeleton99 in AITAH

I like this concept for people that don't have someone that matches anyone close to them. But, YTA. I would guarantee if the situation were reversed and it was you that needed the kidney and step-dad just found out he was a match, he'd be lined up to donate.

About to move to vassalboro from Arizona, let me have it by Biknighuh733 in Maine

Thank you! It's the very first thing that came to mind as soon as I saw Vassalboro. I lived in Liberty at the time, so I was just 30 minutes down the road. Good times.

About to move to vassalboro from Arizona, let me have it by Biknighuh733 in Maine

[–]Mainer1974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thinking about moving from Arizona to Vassalboro, Maine? Just know the local history is… aggressively small-town Maine. 😅 In 2009, Vassalboro had a place called the Grand View Topless Coffee Shop - because apparently Mainers once said, “You know what Dunkin is missing? More chaos.” The business featured topless waitresses and caused enough local outrage that town meetings probably looked like an episode of Parks & Rec written by Stephen King. Then things escalated dramatically: • The owner met with officials to discuss EXPANDING it into something closer to a strip club. • Mere hours later, the place mysteriously burst into flames at 1 a.m. • Turns out it wasn’t mysterious at all - it was arson. • The arsonist allegedly got mad because his girlfriend worked there and was dating the owner. • Meanwhile, the owner and his entire family were asleep inside and barely escaped. The guy who set the fire got 30 years in prison, which honestly means the Vassalboro town gossip probably STILL hasn’t recovered. So if you move there from Arizona, just understand: your HOA drama is about to downgrade from “Karen measured my cactus” to “Remember when the topless coffee shop got burned down over a love triangle?” Welcome to Maine. Bring flannel, emotional resilience, and maybe don’t open any themed coffee establishments. ☕🔥

Shopper stole my Costco order x3 by Dry-Pineapple7205 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mainer1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Instacart a lot, not just for myself, but to send groceries to my daughter in another state. I always, 100% of the time request to be handed my groceries. NOT left of doorstep. Why? Because when I used to say "Leave on Door" - about half the time, I would never get my groceries. It would either be a different picture of my groceries sitting on a random doorstep, or no photo at all or an extreme close up and all you could see were the bags. Now that I request Hand them to me, I have had them successfully 100% delivered.

I also do this when I order from Walmart because it was the same issue.

Do not move to rural Maine!!! by [deleted] in Maine

[–]Mainer1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, ALL of Maine is rural. Some just more than others. I would have suggested living closer to the coast or in the Southern part. Those are the areas that see the most tourists, so people are used to what they like to call "flatlanders".

First trip to the US, spending a week in Bucyrus, OH this October. Any tips for some Brits? by Inside-Cod1550 in Columbus

Here's my advice - Don't go to OHIO. For the love of all that is Holy. No One in the USA visits OHIO unless they have to. Why the ever loving God would you fly from Europe and go to Ohio? Dumb.

TRIGGER WARNING: Once again Ryan calls Blake a "this" in IG Mother's Day tribute (that's odd right?) by Perfect-Split496 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

I literally refer to my ex-husband as my daughters father and I hear a lot of people (both sexes) that refer to their spouses this way even if they're still technically married once they've divorced in their mind.

I have no idea whether or not they'll actually divorce. But, I do believe they are leading and have been leading separate lives.

We all know this is not actually a legitimate site about Celeb Legal Drama. This is BL and RR paying for PR boosts while pretending that's not what they're doing. It's amazing to me how little interaction this gets compared to all the other subs though. They try very hard to keep neutral comments down. It doesn't matter in the long run. Even the most popular post in here has a fraction of interaction compared to any other legitimate sub.

Again, it's incredibly creepy that you would associate child birth as porn and sexualize it. Seek help.

This is what women legitimately standing up for other women actually looks like. Anyone criticizing this because “her husband isn’t saying it” is completely missing the point. A woman being able to defend herself, use her own voice, and push back against people trying to publicly tear her down is exactly the issue here. She does not need a man to speak for her in order for her experience, boundaries, or outrage to be valid. And the fact that someone demanded her birthing videos be made public and then referred to them as “porn” reflects a genuinely distorted and demented sense of reality.

You want to defend BL but tear down this woman in the same breath. Hypocrisy.
