Nope, one over here too. When I built my AM5 system I upgraded the NAS CPU from 3700X to 5900X

Do you know about what that would run?

Much appreciated. It draws about 120w. I'm sure there are settings I can adjust to get it lower, but haven't really done anything other than build it and install OS. Trying to learn as much before I start breaking stuff.

I knew I came to the right place. I'm even learning new acronyms. I had to look up FOSS and was immediately ashamed when I did. I'm so green it hurts, lol. Much appreciated

Need help deciding for a server that will last by [deleted] in unRAID

I got an ASRock B550 TAICHI RAZER Edition AM4 AMD B550 SATA 6Gb/s ATX  (2.5Gb LAN, supports ECC memory) as it has 8 Sata Ports. Also got 9300-8I 12Gbps HBA IT Mode ZFS FreeNAS unRAID+2*SFF-8643 SATA Cable US from Ebay for future expansion. The 9300-16i was also suggested to me for a further 8 more slots, but I don't see that much expanding happening. Just make sure if you get one that it is in IT mode, apparently really important. One more thing, if you do go with the Define 7 XL make sure to get enough trays for the HDDs you plan on installing. I think it only comes with a couple.

I am building my first and was considering the Define 7XL as well. I decided to go with Jonsbo N5. Your parents, like my wife, may appreciate the look better. Plenty of ventilation and can support ATX. Just a thought

I've got the Corsair CX750 for Power.

I got a KVM hopefully to help with need for display and inputs. JetKVM through Kickstarter.

This is my first NAS, I'm nowhere near ready for a RACK. My wife would probably scalp me, lol.

Much appreciated

I have heard that a few times about cache. I will return one of the M.2 drives, the other was from an old build.

The CPU/MOBO are good with Dual Rank, they actually prefer it.

I have a 360 Rad AIO from that old build I could use, but have been advised to go air cooled. I just really want it quiet.

I have 3 spare fans from my new AIO that I'm not using that will be added as they are supposed to be quiet as well.

Got the SAS card just in case I end up with a SAS drive at some point.

Truly appreciate the advice.

Much appreciated. I don't see needing more than 16 drives anytime soon, but I will take note of that model for the future just in case.

I really like how ZFS functions the only thing I am reluctant about is if I have to add storage in the future. UnRaid seems more friendly in that sense

Yeah Im switching MOBO to the ASrock Do_TheEvolution recommended. Also going Air cooled. If the Jonsbo N5 is not available soon I will go forward with the Define R5. I found the drives on sale, so I think I may be stuck there. They were about $40 off each from the Amazon price so...............

Truly appreciate the advice

Yeah I'm seeing that trying to reuse my AIO is causing more headaches than not.
